I was asked to put together a little tri-fold brochure for the high school talk. They picked three places: Fisherman Wharf, North Beach, and Haight Ashbury. San Francisco Shopping & Entertainment The problems here: - I am not that familiar with SF .. been there a few times for work but that's about it. -I am not a computer savvy person to do the layout. -I am not a marketing major so I don' t know how you go about creating something enticing and professional for these kids HELP! or should call them to cancel the talk ..
wait u want to put together a brochure that illustrates those 3 places based on shopping and entertainment?... just to be sure i understand...
well now.... start researching similarities of these three places to make general topic headlines.... and doing a layout for a brochure should be easy.... i think there are even templates in microsoft word for you......
yeah .. i tried to play around w/ ms word templates but they are driving me nut. i have window xp but i used the vista templates at work . downloaded the compabilities package but still doesn't open .. the error box keeps popping up .. anyway, i am more concern about the content at this point cuz i really have no clue what to put in .. i found info online but what's good and what's bad .. only the residents know .. i don't have friends there to help me out. it's kinda pathetic cuz i don't know what my work has to do w/ this at all at the talk ... stupid school. but i gotta make my com looks good and i can't ask for help at work .. it's embarrassing. could ya'll help me here???
Maybe Microsoft Publisher would be a better alternative.. And vista templates? what's that? Is that o7 format or something? I think you should get the info done before you do the design..
Info on Fisherman's Wharf and North Beach isn't a problem, they're rather simple... but Haight and Ashbury is kinda meh... I've lived in the Bay Area for a while and I've never been there and never really heard of it beside it being a place for hippies =/
Oh .. could you help me w/ the FW and NB .. here's what I got for HA .. The Haight-Ashbury (also calls the Haight) is an internationally known district in San Francisco. The neighborhood was brought to fame by the “Summer of Love” in 1967 that defined the moment of the 1960s of the hippie counterculture movement. It was home to a number of important psychedelic rock performers and groups of the time such as Jefferson Airplanes, the Grateful Dead, and Janis Joplin. The Haight encompasses the area that stretches between Stanyan and Masonic as well as Divisadero and Webster Street. Today, it still maintains its bohemian ambiance despite gentrification. The neighborhood have become a thriving center for businesses such as exclusive boutiques, high-end vintage-clothing shops, second-hand stores, Internet cafés and hip restaurants have all settled in; making the Haight one of San Francisco's commercial centers. Some stores in the area like the Ambiance, Amoeba Music, and Ben & Jerry Ice Cream. Every year, a Haight-Ashbury Street Fair is held on the second Sunday of June to celebrate the cultural history and diversity of the district. It features arts and crafts, food booths, and two musical stages. What do you think? Did I hit the main points?? Feel free to correct anything. I am not good w/ the marketing stuffs anyway. The point here is that if you're a tourist, would you find the info helpful?? .. I was warned that the language and writing has to be exciting and enticing yet informative as well as professional yet readable (kids - foreigner level of English). Thanks.
Hi, new here. but would like to help. I've a little experience in creating brochures though not experience in marketing, but the basic idea is to create informative brochure that will complement the talk. So if your talk is to focus on shopping and entertainment you need to have sections in those, maybe one section in general info about the city, one on the shops and styles of shops e.g. clothing stores, food outlets, etc. and for entertainment, what things can people do in the area such as theatres, arts facilities, sports etc. you can usually find them by googling or even better government sites that promote its own city, I'm sure their should be one for SF. Tourism sites of the city will help alot. Also break up the material into bullet points and then expand from there. You need not have long sentences as these will tire people and can be very boring to read and short sentences tend to emphasis your points. Keep things basic and have pictures and graphics to brighten your brochure. Hope my advice helps and is not too complicated but let me know if you need further help.
fisherman wharf: along the wharf u'll find food and entertainment. pier 39 is a huge tourist attraction. food, shops, and fun. a arcade in the back of the pier. a simulating ride called turbo ride. its a 4d theater with moving seats. a stage where local street performers perform. famous food place called bubba gumps. a lot of places to buy gifts. along the wharf u'll also find local owned shops for gift and sum great seafood. north beach: a place to find great italian food. if u enjoy eating italian food out doors this is the place to b. mostly u'll just find food here. if u wanna chill theres a park called washington square park where u could sit and enjoy the sun. haight and ashbury: haight is where u would find the weird and hippy stuff in sf. stuff u'll find here and not anywhere else in sf. ashbury is where u'll find the old victorian homes. thats all i got for now. if u need n e thing else just ask
Thanks ya'll for the help. I finally put something together and I think it's gonna work for the talk.
