Marco Ngai‘s (魏駿傑) marriage with Zhang Lihua (張利華) is on the brink of divorce. The 47-year-old actor admitted that he has been having arguments with his young wife, and that their relationship has reached the “seven-year itch.” The couple got married seven years ago in Lihua’s hometown in Chongqing, when the bride was only a 20-year-old college student. Their marriage occurred after Marco’s breakup with Joyce Tang (滕麗名), whom he had dated for nearly a decade. Marco and Lihua were happy in their early years of marriage. In 2010, Lihua gave birth to their daughter, Jessica. The family of three often went out together, undeterred by the watchful eyes of the paparazzi. Seven-Year Itch? Recently, reports claim that Lihua has been seeing professional cyclist Tang Wang Yip (鄧宏業). The duo was spotted eating dinner together, and their interactions were reported to be intimate: Tang Wang Yip had his arm around Lihua’s waist while carrying her bag. A few days ago, Marco and Lihua were seen heatedly arguing on the streets for over ten minutes, shouting loudly and pointing fingers at each other. Marco had stopped wearing his wedding ring and threatened divorce. Marco Admits Marital Problems In an interview, Marco admitted that he is having communication problems with his wife. He said, “It’s common for couples to argue. Who doesn’t? The problem is that we should both consider our family. Our daughter is still very young and she is our priority. We’re not at the point of divorce. We care about our daughter. Maybe it really is because of the seven-year itch; we just celebrated over seven years of marriage. The problem here is about how to hold our relationship together. There is no third party.” In regards to Lihua’s rumors with Tang Wang Yip, Marco said, “Looking back at the pictures, I don’t see anything strange. If something did happen, it would have been photographed! The Hong Kong paparazzi is very resourceful — they’d be dead if they booked a hotel room! I choose to trust my wife. I’ll tell her that although her husband is not working in Hong Kong at the moment, he is still someone who is well-known. She should be careful when she is out.” What problems are the couple be facing? “We love our daughter too much,” said Marco. “The focus is all on her, and because of that my romantic side is lacking. I’ll reflect. If we keep blaming each other for our faults, we’ll just be walking farther and farther away from each other. I still cook for her on Valentine’s Day.
