Fourteen years ago, Louis Koo (古天樂) won TVB Best Actor for his portrayal in A Step into the Past <尋秦記>. Throughout the years, Louis wanted to film a movie version of the classic series. However, his dream did not come to fruition due to lack of resources and unsatisfactory scripts. After Louis established his production company and gained additional financial support, the movie has finally been green-lit to begin filming next year in Inner Mongolia. To retain the flavor of the original series, Louis invited the original cast to reprise their roles in the movie, including Raymond Lam (林峯), Jessica Hsuan (宣萱), Sonija Kwok (郭羡妮), Joyce Tang (滕麗名), and the semi-retired Kong Wah (江華). When reached for verification of the reports, Raymond’s manager, Mani Fok (霍汶希) disclosed, “We received Louis’ invitation, but we are uncertain whether [Raymond] will film.” After the widespread popularity of time-traveling series such as Bu Bu Jing Xin <步步驚心> and Palace <宮鎖心玉>, SARFT issued a ban on time-traveling films and shows due to the “disrespect of history”. Bu Bu Jing Qing <步步惊情> had to cut references of time-travel in its broadcast last year. The movie version of A Step into the Past will have to work under the limitations imposed by SARFT as well. While Louis originally wanted Johnnie To (杜琪峯) to direct, the director has little room in his schedule. With details of the project still to be decided, Louis revealed, “In principle, if the movie comes to fruition, I will reprise my original role in the series. I will not discuss other matters yet.” William Chan to Film Internet Drama Based on “A Step into the Past” In related news, William Chan (陳偉霆), Wesley Wong (黃愷傑), and Zheng Shuang (鄭爽) will star in an Internet drama based on A Step into the Past. Since the drama will be broadcast online, it faces less limitations than content broadcast on television, which is regulated by SARFT. Creds: ihktv
I applaud that this is becoming a movie, and will be real awesome if all the original casts reprise their role. Now onto the BS stuff, seriously?? I didn't realize they monitored "time travel" sheesh. It's a movie which majority of them are fictional.
i love this show to bits, one of my favourite (tvb) shows all time. china is getting ridiculous with its limitations. come on, people can think for themselves. what's next? banning lord of the rings and the hobbit because it's disrespecting reality?
