Sunday November 25, 2007 Hong Kong RTHK's Young Politicians <政壇新秀訓練班> show held a graduation ceremony and recruitment event today, attended by Liza Wang (汪明荃), Niki Chow (周麗淇), Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Mr Stephen Lam (林瑞麟) and Executive Councillor Leung Chun-ying (梁振英). The event was designed to encourage young people to become more involved in the political world and speak out about issus that they are unhappy with. At the event, Liza shared her own experiences of working in politics and asked if she would return to the political arena, she said that she will not because she would prefer to do work that directly benefits society. She felt that the social problems in Tin Shui Wai should be in the spotlight at the moment and when asked about Chow Yun Fat (周潤發)'s suggestion for the area to change its name, Liza said that it is not a problem of the name and she felt that the name was actually a very beautiful one. She said that there are many processes and facilities that need to be improved. Niki and the other three guests will become the stars of a film, titled Patriotic Short Film <愛國短片> that will be filmed following a debate by the candidates about what should go into it. She suggested that they should all go to the Ngong Ping 360 cable car because there was an accident there, causing concern among visitors, so when the site re-opens, then it would be a good example to go on and promote the attraction and revive the economy of the area. She said that filming for the government is different from her normal work because she has to appear very formal and make sure that her speech is very clear and correct. credits: batgwa.
