The producers of "Life After Death" have recently denied speculations that the drama was cut short to only 25 episodes which had resulted in the ending that had since been widely criticised by many. As reported on HK01, TVB producers Kwan Shu Ming and Kwan Man Sum stressed that there was never a plan to make a 30-episode drama, and that the sad ending was the result of their discussion and the conclusion of the story based on its beginning. This include Sherman's (played by Shiga Lin) decision to save the badly injured Eden (Kyle Li) after realising a doctor's duty is to save people. As for the fate of Frankie Lam's character, the producers stressed that it was never set in stone what actually happened to his character, and that viewers have the right to make their own interpretation. When mentioned that viewers were unhappy with the sad ending, Kwan stated that the ending brought out the theme of the series; that is about cherishing the people around you. "Everybody will experience setbacks, but you need to adjust and let go in order to accept the future," he added. As for a sequel, the producers admitted that it would be difficult to do so as lead actor Frankie Lam will not be returning to TVB in the near future due to his new role as the Vice President of TVB's rival company, ATV.
