I was posting on another forum about being able to distinguish left from right. Ever since I was a kid, I've had trouble telling the difference between the two. Very often, I put my left foot into my right shoe and vice versa. And when I get a new type of shoe (ski boots, rollerblades, ice skates), forget it. It takes me a while to get to be able to tell which belongs on my left foot and which belongs on my right foot. When I give directions, I will sometimes say turn left, while pointing to the right. I attribute it to the fact that I don't have a strong side, meaning, my left side is just as strong as my right. I can write with both hands, and depending on the sport, I use my left or my right as the dominant hand. Most of the time, people have a stronger side, but for me, it really doesn't make much of a difference. Ambidextrous people are not stupid. In the other forum, one poster was saying that he attributed not being able to tell left from right to stupidity and asked if we have trouble reading. I don't see the correlation between reading and distinguishing left from right. But anyway, does anybody else have this problem?
lol wow never really heard of that kinda problem... and sounds a bit serious -lol. But uhh you should def. skate or snowboard with that kinda talent. And uhh maybe a Navi for your car would come in handy...
And I thought PA was your true love... -^_^ My guess is that they're unrelated... How's your sense of direction? I know non-ambidextrous people who gets their left and rights mixed up all the time.
hey! i'm an ambidexterous too, but so far i do not get confused with wearing the wrong shoes. i mean i have b4, but its not so regular till its worth mentioning. i dont have too much issues with just left and right, but i used to read anagrams as same...o.o (scared vs sacred) but thats common ones too. i am hopeless with direction so dont make me a tour guide. apart from that i dont remember any major problems i've encountered. -shrug
I never had this kind of problem, most of the time i always use my right side as my dominent side. I play footy with my right foot and i write with my right hand. My left hand and leg is no where as good as my right side. But i never know, it might be better in other subjetcs.
Hmm I heard ambidextrous were really artistic too. You kinda learn after a while which is left and which is right by finding out which hand formed the correct sided "L." Not like it really matters.. just dont get screwed driving. "Left turns only" might be your gate to the afterlife lol.
It's not like that. Like, for some people, they sometimes forget which is left and right, but for me, I have trouble telling the difference. For instance, looking at a shoe, most people can tell right off the bat which foot it belongs to, but for me, it takes me a while to figure it out.. There's nothing wrong with my sense of direction, though. But I do have a friend who has a similar problem, but it is manifested differently. He can't tell North, South, East, West unless he's looking at a map. If someone tells him to go to some road and go East, he'll have no idea what they're talking about. If someone writes him directions using East West, etc. he'll have to sit down and figure it out first. He associates this with being left handed, and because he tends to think pictorally. He can remember places based on land-marks and always remember how to get somewhere if he's been there before... but he's really bad with directions. Anyway, I heard that problems with determining left and right are, for some reason, more common amongst females... -huh
Strange talking about left/right side. I am naturally right handed but since small, I can only blow my nose with my left hand! However, with repetitive strain injury on my right wrist, I've 'trained' my left hand to use the mouse.
HAHAHAH i think i use to have this problem but then i got a huge ass scar on my left hand and now i check where the scar is to tell my left from right >.< oh i still have problems when im converting to chinese though... i cant tell jau and yau but i can tell left and right just fine for some reason
I get confused when giving directions to other people...I know it's right, but then I get the words mixed up...
I'm not too good at telling left from right as a child, now I know it about 80% of the time. As for North East South West, I only know the order, but can never tell which direction is which.
well i never have a problem putting on my shoes n stuff... but when i direct ppl driving i have a problem saying turn left or turn right
Never had a problem. But I get EASILY confused if anyone try to tell me directions by "turn on the driver's side" or "turn on the pavement(?) side" Left and Right suffice for me ^^
lol wtf.. who does that... driver side.. pavement side..?? -lol I think ill start doing that jus to uff with pple... yes take a left pavement at the stop sign to a drive side pass the house next to the pavement.. -lol
