Just wondering if anyone's had this operation so they don't have to wear glasses?? I've had 2 friends do it, and their opinions are as different as the sun and the moon >_< Is it worth it? did it hurt? i'm sick of wearing contacts and when they're off, i can't see a damn thing -detect
It depends, so far the reviews I got are unanimous "you lost part of your night vision" and "it didn't do a lot of good to your astigmatism" And it isn't THAT expensive... around $600 CAD per eye but most of my friends end up with visions around -1.0 after the operation, so if your vision isn't THAT bad, it isn't quite worth the risk and the trouble.
Ive read an article about this before... A girl had it done...she didnt need any glasses and everything was ok.... but after a while...she had to wear glasses again =/ u better ask ur dr. if its permanently or not....u dont wanna spend money just to get better visions for a few months...
True that. My friend doesnt see well at night after the operation. One should do it if their eyesight is really poor I think its permanent. As of yet, havent heard anything about wearing glasses after.
but this chick said her eye vision became bad after a few months...sooo...i dunnooo double check lar...better safe than sorry right
^ Agreed. Eyes are one of the most sensitive parts on human beings. Nobody aint doing anything to them if it was me.
i'm considering laser eye surgery myself but i want to wait until my eyes have steadied b4 i do it... my uncle's got it done and his eye sight is fine now, he doesnt need to wear glasses anymore and its been about 4/5 years... He also told me that there are two types that can be done, one is where the doctors cut the eyelids and the other is when they dont cut the eyelids......but the surgery itself is very quick.. i think it will be worth it and i'm not sure if it will hurt alot or a little cos its bound to hurt anyways...
http://www.allaboutvision.com/conditions/astigmatism.htm# Hope this helps to explain. -^_^ @ phoenixgirl How bad is your eyesight to require this treatment?
one of my friends had it done recently.. doesn't need glasses now... but i've got a family friend who did it a couple years ago.... he said first year or two vision was really good! but after that the vision got worse than wat it was before.. and now can't see very well at night... can't drive at night either. but technology may hav improved since then... i guess it depends on how good it is and how long it'll last... but in the end it's ur own choice when u weigh the up's and downs.
Eyes are important. Very important. But that's also why people find that it's worth the risk or getting laser eye surgery. It makes their eyes better, at least if it works successfully. Yeah...that site lists some risks, but risks come with just about any kind of medical procedure. The point of any major operation is to determine on your own if the risk is worth the benefits. Because obviously, the benefits are there if done right.
I think laser eyes surgeries if far more dangerous ...i dont know. it just creeps me out thinking a needle stick in my eyes..it just hurt
I had my eyes sight corrected not with laser but with the hands of doctor because during that time laser was not available. I would say its definitely worth it for those who are tired with glass or contact lenses. I did not experience any complications, was surprised my vision was so clear right after the surgery it self. You could actually see the next day but is advise not to strain the eyes while healing takes place, meaning have to wear an eye shield and take lots of rest for like 4-5 days. I'm very happy I had my eye sight corrected. Till now it has been like about 10 years or more , although my vision is not as sharp as before. But still do not need glasses. My husband did 4 years earlier than me by the same doctor and his vision is still good in fact, slightly better than me.
You might not get 20/20 because they could over correct or under correct your vision so make sure the surgeon is good.
laser eye surgery is permanent... if that girl had problems with her eyes later.. then something went wrong. also atm its getting cheaper and cheaper since the technology is getting improved... just wait a few years.. it get alot cheaper my friend did it and it cost her around 1250 euro for both eyes... but she had around -5 on both eyes also after surgery you gotta stay away of bright light, i suggest to do it in the winter.. with not that much birght sun
