I'm thinking of getting a laptop before i go to uni. but i don't know which is better, a mac book or laptop that uses viata? any suggestions....
don't ever get mac... mac is over price piece of sh*t... useless... no good programs... i would go with windows vista or xp.. you can easily still get xp OS if you call their Customer Service...
i wouldn't exactly say mac is useless....it has bootcamp so it can run the windows os too. it is, however, undeniable that macs are overpriced. how much are you looking to spend on your laptop? i'd suggest the dell xps 1530
i think u should get the mac air lol or the white mac laptop...looks so nice. u should get a small one so you don have to drag it around alll day.
mac air got hacked in 3 minutes If ur going for design school with use photoshop etc, go for mac. if not, go for normal pc and run xp if u dont like vista or even linux. u dont have much choice for software if ur suing mac, so mostly u need to buy original software.
well, the macbook is pretty portable as a laptop, don't get the macair, that is clearly overpriced but the macbook isn't bad. it has a gd design and isn't too pricey. this all depends on where u live and the prices there. but the mac comes with a lot of nice programs which u don't get with windows and then all u need is toast, microsoft office and ur set to go for uni work. it loads fast up too.
macair is an overprice piece of sh*t... i rather pay a lot lower for a window OS laptop. at least the price of the macair you can get a gaming pc instead -bigsmile
ye thats what i sed, out of all the mac laptops, only the macbook is worth its price cos for the air ur paying for design and for macbook pro, thats just overpriced. but ye if u don't like the macbook, the sony vaio is not too bad and nor are hp.
well usually for uni, it would be just normal work and perhaps music, which both machines are capable of doing unless u are doing an IT course or art/design course which require the comp.
Alrighty, so if your main use of the laptop is to go online, do assignments, play music and watch DVD/movies, then it really just depends on your price range. I'm a MAC user, so I'd suggest the Macbook. They're the mid range of the Mac Laptops, as the Air is portable use and doesn't have a DVD drive. While the Pro's are bigger and costly cause of power. So anything that's 13 inch is the ideal size for you if you bring it around the place. The advantage of MACs are that they are less susceptible to malicious internet attacks at the moment. And if you really want to use Windows, you can install it on the Mac also. The reason that Macbook's would cost a few hundred more than other brands with the same features is simple, they use better quality products/material when building them.
Im mainly using the laptop for school work, music, movies and web surfing but i need a laptop thats really fast, has a lot of storage space and doesn't slow down when there are a lot of app. running and i won't be using it for any games just work and typical types of entertainment. thx for all the input everyone -lol
a run of the mill laptop would work for you...if you want to be a little stylish and stay windows the sony CR Series is a nice design and stylish http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs...Id=8198552921644498278&parentCategoryId=16154 hp's and other are pretty good too...the mac are so so wouldn't get a macbook air cuz its way over priced and sucks compared to other laptops the macbook are ok still overpriced and the macbook pro's will probalby be better if you use photoshop and other artistic programs
macbook if you can get used to it and yea you don't care about playing any games and such..also if you don't have a mp3 player that requires pc. well in the end you still can use bootcamp...but pc if you want to spend under 1k and still get a pretty good configuration...cause mac books are like over 1k i think and pc you can pretty much build a pretty good one for under 1k if you search so really depends on how much you are willng to spend. also it's easier to upgrade ram for pc notebooks than macbooks i think, maybe cheaper ram also....pc notebook ram is like 70-80 bucks for 4gb now so you can totally buy cheap comp with like 1gb and upgrade urself to make it fast if your notebook supports it.
lol leopard seams to be better than vista it's just the specs on the hardware itself thats it...vista is crap from what i've heard haha...
protip: dont bother getting yourself a vaio or a mac. if youve got enough money for those wallet hole makers, do yourself a favor and get yourself an alienware area 51. that basic alienware is a million times better than any shit mac or vaio. its 1500 bucks. im not even going to talk about the mac air. that piece of shit is shit, because as it may be 3/4 of an inch, you lean on it by accident, say good bye to 2 potential alienwares, or 4 laptops that could each destroy a mac. for christ sake, the air doesnt even have a cd drive, and it has like what... 1 usb port? yes, i am a big massive mac and vaio hater. I AM A MAC AND VAIO HATER. check out these spoiled brats. while im shooting myself, trying to pass a course, i see these brats each with an alienware. they dont even play games for crying out loud. i shat bricks as large as an old school window air conditioner.
