Prior to the broadcast of TVB drama, Highs and Lows <雷霆掃毒>, Kate Tsui’s (徐子珊) gang rape scene was widely discussed. After waiting for 22 nights, the controversial scene was finally aired this week. Male viewers expected the content to be more revealing, but to their disappointment, the gang rape scene was over in one second. The tragic fate of Kate Tsui’s character in Highs and Lows, who encountered gang rape, later becoming a drug addict and dealer, has shocked the public since plot spoilers were revealed. The challenging role was a breakthrough for Kate, generating hot buzz for this year’s TV Queen award. “It’s a very terrifying and pitiful situation,” Kate spoke of the gang rape scene earlier, in which veteran actor, Lee Ka Ding (李家鼎) portrayed one of the rapists. However, the terror in the gang rape scene was over in one second. Kate was surrounded by several men in the controversial scene, who exclaimed, “When is it our turn?” before the screen blacked out and the audience was spared the visual terror. Kate was only seen crying uncontrollably in the aftermath. Due to earlier media coverage on the rape scene, this created a sordid anticipation among Hong Kong male viewers who eagerly followed the drama. After the one-second scene failed to “deliver the goods,” male viewers felt that TVB had cheated them, angrily demanding for a more authentic rape scene. Creds: tvw
^^ matches her trashy image. ella koon pisses me the fk off. with that kind of iq, how the hell can u be a special cop?!
crazy male viewer disappointed... If they want to see rape scene then go buy some 5 star porno... This is a drama.....
Seriously HK's men need to get a grip. This is, after all, TVB; just how juicy did they expect it to be? 'Jan Dara' gang bangs is about as saucy as it gets for mainstream HK television. For those that don't remember, Jan Dara was a steamy Thai movie that followed a man who wanted to find out who his real father was. The movie ends with the revelation of his mother, on that fateful night of his conception, being left alone in a secluded shack being set upon by about a dozen men. One didn't need to see what happened inside to understand that she was gang raped. In a sense, TVB did what they did in order to convey the action through suggestive direction. They also pumped up the male audience's imagination into thinking there would be more revealing action with one of its best starlets, thereby driving up ratings. Kudos to TVB for playing HK like a fiddle.
Viewers complain when a scene is too "obscene" and now even complain when a scene is not obscene or violent. You can never please them!
obviously, a gang rape scene could not be shown on tv, neither do i really want to see it. however, to me, i kinda had the feeling the show got promoted with this "gang rape scene" by kate tsui. when it finally does happen, we see nothing, not even some shadows of the whole thing or some more sound. so typical tvb. i thought, after the rumored new channel in hk, they'd put in some effort. but so far, highs and lows was nothing but a joke with a dozen of examples of bad script writing. no highs, only lows.
Never liked her acting. There was no acting at all from that rape scene. She was just knocked out cold. TVB really needs to get their acts together. First off, their script writer suck ass. They can't make up a story thats realistic or believeable at all. And now they are looseing almost all of their decent actors, actresses. All the awards that they gives out, have to benefit the pockets of the executive. Not from the people's choice.
well, it is a tv series so of course tvb cant pass the limit. probably the selling point of that episode is not the raping scene rather than her crying....
