Monday October 29, 2007 Hong Kong Joey Yung (容祖兒) and Enrico Kwong (鄺祖德) were supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month today at an event held by the Hong Kong Hereditary and High Risk Breast Cancer Programme (香港遺傳性及高危乳癌普查計劃). Sharing their experiences of contact with the condition, Joey said that she has regular body checks and revealed that she has a good friend who was diagnosed with breast cancer when she was just 20 years old and secretly underwent surgery. Joey said she felt that her friend was very lonely through the tough times and urged people not to be too reserved or afraid. She added that if she develops the disease, then she will be brave and face up to her treatment. Asked when she started having regular health checks, Joey said that when she started working in the industry, she found herself pushing her body too hard and she decided to book in regular checks to make sure she kept healthy. Her mother also makes her soups with bird's nest and cordyceps. Asked how much she spends on these herbs every month, Joey said she was not sure, but it was not over HK$10,000. Joey said that keeping healthy is very important and any amount of money is worth it. Enrico's elder sister Dr Ava Kwong (鄺靄慧) is the director of the programme and he attended the event to show his support. He said that men can also develop breast cancer and it is a good thing for men to have an awareness of the condition as well. He said that he is quite lazy when it comes to checking his body, but he will go to the doctor regularly for health checks. credits: batwga.
