Joey Yung expresses full support for Gillian Chung Hong Kong artiste Gillian Chung's interview on a talk show has been criticized to be scripted by her company and raised protests among viewers. Hong Kong singer, also senior of Chung from the same record company, Joey Yung, however expressed support for the former and complimented her courage. "I think there will always be people who like a program and others who don't. Gillian has taken the first step, so let's show her our support." Chung took on her first media interview on Hong Kong TVB talk show "Be My Guest" after the sex photo scandal broke out more than a year ago. During the interview, she admitted to have taken the sex photos in fear of losing Edison Chen, a Hong Kong actor. Chung also contemplated suicide when the sex photos went public on the Internet. Like Cecilia Cheung, the first female star involved in the same scandal to have spoken up, Chung also lashed out at Chen for not apologizing personally to all the girls involved. However, while Cheung received praises for her daring and sincere comments, Chung was criticized to be pretentious. With regards to the public unforgiving remarks about Chung, Yung said, "Gillian has always been a reserved girl. She has braved her courage to face the past, so everyone should see this positively and shower her with encouragement. Gillian may not be as expressive as Cecilia, but I hope everyone will understand Gillian more after watching the interview. She has tried her very best to open up her heart." In the interview, Chung also mentioned that besides her manager and Charlene Choi, her other half in girl group Twins, Yung was the third person who would spend time chatting with her and enlightening her. Yung also admitted that she tried to spend more time with Chung but was unable to keep up with it as work caught up with her. "We will avoid sensitive topics, pretending that nothing happened," Yung said.
