The fact of the matter is there were numerous saviors from different periods all throughout the world before Jesus that subscribed to these general mythological characteristics. Finally we have Jesus, the most recent of the messiahs, born of Virgin Mary on Dec. 25th, his birth was announced by a star in the east, which three kings followed to locate Mary, he was a child teacher at 12 and at 30 he was baptised by John the Baptist and then began his ministry. Jesus had 12 desciples which traveled and performed miracles such as healing the sick, walking on water, and raising the dead. He was also known as the "Kind of Kings," "Son of God," "Light of the World," "Alpha and Omega," "Lamb of God," and many others. After being betrayed by his disciple Judis he was crucified, placed in a tomb for 3 days, and then resurrected." Sound familiar? Why the similar characteristics? Some think it has to do with astrology and that along with historical texts validates this theory.
Satan was told the plan of redemption from the Garden of Eden, he had plenty time to come up with his usual counterfeits. he obviously went through alot of trouble but has failed miserably for the most part thank God.
If what you said is true than it seems Satan has had plenty of practice. So, how do you know Jesus isn't Satan's success?
Aye yes he has had many 1000's of years practice. If you ever get to KNOW Jesus then you'll understand, until then you'll never know, my word alone wont convince you and i wont waste my time trying. Interesting post nonetheless, good luck with all things.
yeah, you wont know jesus is real until you've actually hung out with the guy. honestly, the guy is so awesome at parties, you know he could only have been born from god. I'v seen jesus smoke an entire 6 inch blunt and then down half a keg of pilsner. He is the shit.
^haha, nah buddha is cooler.... he has blunts named after him...shit hahaha..... buddah (cool level) >jesus
please do not speak as other ppl believe is a shit or so on... ppl hav the right to believe in wat they wish to believe in... please pay a respect to each and everyone who is in this forum...
people could make fun of symbolisms and people and such, we have the right to make fun of god. because god is just a symbolism of faith right (might be more to the believers). it's the freedom of speech and opinion....And also it's not like i'm making fun of you, i'm pretty sure you're not jesus or buddha. you have the right to believe and defend god, i have the right to make fun of it or not believe in it.
Or it is just a scam by the church in order to absorb the pagan religious and unifies one "true" religion without altering too many of other religions' practices? Jesus isn't even born on December 25 (or Winter, for that matter) then why do we have Christmas, which supposedly celebrates the birth of Christ, on a winter day?
oddly enough, i was never taught that Jesus Christ was born on Dec. 25 -- i grew up with the secular version of Christmas -- Jolly Ol' Saint Nick!! lol. anyways, this posting from p3ps1c0la seems awfully familiar. did he get this from the Zeitgeist? uhm, may be .. may not. here is a rebuttal -- i've posted quite a few times before. noted: the original poster is not me.
Just like apollon i grew linking Christmas to Santa not Christianity but some people do remember Christ's birthday on that day. as for absorbing pagans etc, you are talking about Roman Catholicism, Christianity existed before Roman Catholicism and after. so if i rephrase you as show below: "Or it is just a scam by the Roman catholic church in order to absorb the pagan religious and unifies one "true" religion without altering too many of other religions' practices?" then i would say that was the plan, but as for true 'biblical' Christianity, that was never the case is still is not.
this is BS, your just putting up names and stuff... im sure alot of people clamming stuff, but they dont have back up whether they ever exist or have good evidence to support that claim.
@Apollon Yes I did, I got this information from the documentry you mentioned (Zeitgeist) which is why I added quotation marks. Now, if the information you provided is correct than I apologize for posting incorrect information. Course I'll have to do some digging myself since I don't know where you got your information from. But the thing I find funny about your post is number 6. Do you also find the virgin birth of Jesus Christ odd?
Acharya S – pen name for D. Murdock. Website: http://www.truthbeknown.com/ <- Here you can see a 26 minute long clip of where I got my information from that's hosted on Google Video. Gives you much more information than what I posted and explains in detail. Her qualifications and a bit about her. Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acharya_S I'll post more when I continue the research.
Well, if Jesus isn't both on Christmas, why do we see the nativity decoration, complete with stables and sheeps, during Christmas time? Nativity is often associated with Christmas, why? The connection between the two fails me if Jesus ISN'T born sometime during Christmas, someone care to enlighten me?
^ probably it is because of the church's past fallacies to compete with the pagan faiths in their region. therefore, changing the birth of Jesus Christ to the month of December. why we still celebrate Jesus' birth on Dec. 25; i personally do not know. Since to me as a Christian, it is a bit irrelevant. Not to say that the birth of Christ is irrelevant, but when exactly (what month, day, and time) he was born does not change my belief in my God. So, if one chooses to worship and celebrate Jesus' birth in the month of August and another Christian wishes to do so in the month of December -- it is fine, as long as the individual celebrates it with the wholeness of his/her heart for their God. To classify something "odd" is an opinionated term. what may be odd to you, is not odd to me. therefore, to plainly answer your question. No, I do not find the virgin birth of Christ Jesus to be "odd". And plus in today's day and age -- a virginal birth like of Mary's is not impossible. With the technology of artificial insemination, a woman can, with no previous sexual intercourse/relation, be impregnated with a child.
lol i dont think they knew much about in vitro fertilization and artificial insemination 2000 years ago
of course not. lol. but in comparison to a "god" being born from "poseidon's semen and the sea" or from "zeus' head" -- the virginal birth of Jesus Christ is not particular "odd" and in today's world, not impossible.
