Janice and Jill Were Tested On Singing

Leon accepted Community Chest's invitation to direct a music movie A Melody Looking. At the beginning of this month, he, Janice, Jill, Charles Ying, Chapman To, and newcomer Emily arrived in New York for the filming. The movie will be screened in November and all proceeds will go to Community Chest.

The day before, Leon went to the local Croatian Roman Catholic Church to shoot. He and Charles dressed up as monks, and Chapman dressed in a Japanese kimono to film new song Hapkido. Leon disclosed that they only used three days for the script. As a director this time, he encountered many difficulties. What made him angry was the rental sites company unexpectedly raised fees. He said, "We already discussed a price. Unknowingly, they suddenly want to add on US$20,000. Rented a car and said it can't be on public roads but pay extra is not a problem." Janice suddenly went missing on the third day of work. Actually, she got food poisoning suspected from eating uncleaned fruit which hindered the progress of filming. Leon said, "That whole day was filming Janice's part. She was not seen. She was actually not feeling well, so she returned to the hotel." When the journalists pointed out that he looks fit, Leon immediately compared himself to a free range chicken. He joked, "I run around everyday. I walk more than in HK and always lifting and carrying. It's difficult to get fat."

When the staff members arrived in the US, 15 baggages were lost. All baggages were returned on the third day. Janice said, "Jill and my undergarments were lost. Everyone was paid US$70 to buy daily necessities." On paperworks, Janice and Jill wrote that they are singers. Unknown if it caused the US customs to be curious, a customs official at the airport requested them to sing to prove that they are singers. Fortunately, the customs official was friendly and didn't frighten Janice and Jill. In the end, the responsibility was put on Jill to sing. She selected to sing a few lines of a classic song by the American band The Doors and initiated to say Rolling Stones are her idols. The customs official did not request Janice to sing. After smoothly passing the customs, the two sisters leaped for joy and praised that it's fun in the US.

Chapman brought along his wife Krystal Tin to New York. He joked that his wife looks like a terrorist shopping on 5th Avenue, "Her fierce situation of buying clothes is making me worried. This is really a terrorist attack on the US!" He praised Leon for being serious while filming. He said, "When Director Lai shoots, he talks differently than usual. Normally, he talks for very long, but being a director, he talks faster and definitely clear and precise."
