The finale of the Year of Jacky Cheung World Tour <學友光年演唱會> opened yesterday evening at the PopTV Arena at West Kowloon Reclamation Site (西九龍中天地) as Jacky (張學友) performed his first song of the night "Love Spark" <愛火花> to a crowd dressed in raincoats provided by organisers at the open air venue. The show's rundown and stage design were very similar to the rest of the concerts in the tour and the special fireworks display went ahead as planned.

With the weather starting to turn chilly in Hong Kong and the skies churning out bouts of drizzly rain, it was little wonder that Jacky, who had just recovered from flu and still sported the remnants of a cold sore on the side of his lip, was worried about the performance. He revealed to the press before the show that he had suffered high fever and ear, nose and throat infections when he was performing in Malaysia, but had been to visit the doctor upon his return to Hong Kong and was recovering after a night in hospital and a dose of antibiotics.

Jacky had taken part in a blessing ceremony for the show earlier on in the day and when he saw some eager fans who were waiting for him outside the venue was still happy to shake hands and meet with them. For Jacky, this was a special occasion because it was his 100th performance on this tour. Later, on stage, he said proudly that for a man at his age to still manage 100 shows in a season was quite an achievement.

Asked if he was worried about the rain affecting his performance, Jacky said that around half of his previous shows were outdoors and he has already experienced the monsoons. He smiled that if the fans were not worried about the rain, then neither was he. However, the rain did cause some discontent among the fans in the audience because despite requests for the public not to use umbrellas in the venue, a number of inconsiderate people still opened up their umbrellas when it started to rain, causing upset to the people around them.
