Jackie Chan (成龍) dropped a rather controversial comment about Hong Kong’s current political strife. In his Sina Weibo message, the action star criticized Occupy Central, the pro-democracy protest that is currently ongoing in Hong Kong, for negatively affecting Hong Kong’s economy. It has been a while since Jackie last left a message on his official Weibo. The last time was on August 20, when he apologized about his son Jaycee Chan’s (房祖名) marijuana drug scandal, which has led mainland China to put an industry-wide ban on celebrities implicated in the scandal. On October 11, Jackie left a new message on his Weibo account, where he shared his thoughts about Hong Kong’s current situation. He stated, “I saw in the news that economic losses in Hong Kong have reached to $350 billion HKD. This makes me very anxious. I believe that all Hong Kong people love Hong Kong and want it to do well! Hong Kong’s beautiful future needs to have everyone’s support and hard work. According to the lyrics in ‘Nation’ <國家>, there cannot be a prosperous home without a powerful country. I am willing to work together with everyone, to return to reason, and face the future. Love our country and love our Hong Kong.” Chinese netizens have showed their support to Jackie’s message, but there were also some who reacted coldly to Jackie’s message: “Discipline your son first. If you can’t even manage your family, how can you manage politics?” Creds: Ming Pao
Haha that comment is so true, have to agree with it. “Discipline your son first. If you can’t even manage your family, how can you manage politics?” He's probably trying to please the government that has his son.
100% Squeezed truth by Jackie chan. People only find it offensive is because they cannot swallow the truth.
No matter how you see it, Occupying and disrupting the life of other people is not democracy. It Politics. How would you feel if this happen right in front of your house? “Discipline your son first. If you can’t even manage your family, how can you manage politics?” This is a tad cruel. Have you got a son? Are you sure You discipline him well? Youngster will be Youngster.. Don't tell me you haven't been young before. I think probably all of us make mistake when we are young. This is just my opinion.
