This is so dumb, yes it might a little bit because of violent games, but its mainly because guns are too easily available. For those who've seen "Bowling For Columbine" they would know how easy it is!! For those who havent ill tell you how easy!! If you set up a bank account with a bank they would give you a free gun!! They can buy bullets while getting a hair cut!! NRA!! YTF aint they blaiming NRA!! They promote use of guns!! WTF?? Their only blaming games cos game companies cant defend themselves because it is true that their games are violent and also that most people play the games!! If games are the core reason then why dont you see people all over the world going to school or shops and shooting everyone?? Why dont we see people jacking cars and running people over with it?? Because video games are not the CORE reason!!

The guy is moaning about their kids not being safe at school!! How about not letting guns being so easily obtained!! And maybe the police a=can actually wake up and stop them!! 2 Hours it took them to get to the scene and to warn people they sent emails!! WTF EMAILS!! Are the retarded or something!! The person could be dead before he check his fucking email!!

Such a common "explanation" again. I think there is some extent that video games contribute to all those shootings, but not totally. Yeah, as Vinnie said above, lots of people play those games and they don't go out shooting people. It's just the incidents that we hear about so it seems like so. That's probably 1%.. or not even 1% of people who play violent video games that go out to kill people. So I think people really gotta look at all the other 99.999% of people who don't go around killing people after playing those games.

BUT.. aii.. I think the games still do make people think violent things are more normal. hmm.. I'd say decrease the amount of violence in some games, but don't totally take it away. Probably the ones that are a bit too like could-be-real-life ones?

Maybe yes, violent games might contribute to a small part in their behavior, but personally i think it has to do with the person's environment, ie: family, friends, neighborhood, and the interaction between them whether its positive or negative.

Yes, totally, blame it on the video games and call the rest of the gamers who play violent video games (but not going around shooting people down) the EXCEPTIONS.

Some people just don't have adequate brain power to process knowledge. He may as well just say "oh because he breaths and eats and occupy space and human, that's why he goes around shooting people".

So true, Video games isn't the thing causing violence, it the person that cause the violence.

^ Then they proceed onto blaming TV shows. And be assasinated by some hitman hired by major TV corporations.

People who are fully educated or totally understand child development always blame video games or TV for sh*t happening. If games were to really cause all the violence then we would have a world full of killers. People are not that easily influence.

and so the blame game begins.

@Maverick: Well said. Imagine lobbists having to argue "well, the shooter couldn't do a very effective job if he has a banana instead of a gun in his hand now, does he?"

But heck, we all know projectiles are much more effective at wounding/killing a greater number of people. And they say they NEED it to feel safe, wait til they realise they ain't in the ol' Western films anymore and got killed.

^ It's like a free-for-all for publicity, this blaming on video game thing. You are BOUND to get publicity, and lots of it, if you just talk crap about this shooting.

The fact that some people commodify and capitalize on this horrible event is such a shame.

So did I :p I made 20+ Post on virginia tech shooting related posts

But on a serious side note, it's also a supply-demand thing. I just don't understand why it still sells when it's the upmillionth person saying the same thing, don't they realise that more people saying something doesn't make it any more true (or false)?
