Do you think that prom overrated? Share your experiences here! Our senior prom is coming up in 2 weeks. I'm kind of excited about it because of all the hype that's been going around school lately. It's going to take place on a yackt! I've already gotten my dress and my friends and I have already planned out what we're going to do. If everything goes right, it's supposed to be a really fun night. -bigclap People have such high expectations of it such as finding the perfect dress, date, accessories, etc. It's pretty pricy too. I guess it's only worth it if you have someone special to share the experience with. Is it really the most memorable experience of your high school life?
exactly >>> if you want it to be fun; it can be very VERY fun. : so, it isn't overrated; go with a date, go with a group of friends, or go stag (the best, in my opinion -wink-)
Prom, for me, was a total nightmare. Actually, I think I can say now, that it was the worst memory in my high school career. So when I went to prom many moons ago, I went with my boyfriend @ the time. Because I didn't go to his school, he paid for both our tickets, which came out to be around 250 in total. Since he paid for my tix, I paid for our corsages and boutineres, which came out to 50-60 or so, I can't remember. I got this dress from Jessica McClintock way early, and that came out to be about 150. Then my shoes were about 60. I also had to get my hair & nails done. Since my friend knew someone who worked at one of the cosmetic departments at the mall, we decided to get our make up done there for free. Unfortunately for me, the girl who worked on my face didn't know what the heck she was doing, and as a result I turned out looking like Chucky's bride. It was horrible. So, I ended up having to go home, and re-doing my make up all over again. Anyway, since my date drove, we didn't hop in the limo like most others. That sucked too because his car had no A/C & we had to ride with the windows opened... so my hair flew all over the place & got messed up. This time, I looked like Chucky's bride who'd just gotten electrocuted. During the prom, my ghetto boyfriend decided to talk on the phone the entire time, and there was so much tension between a few of my friends, so it was really awkward. The music was also really crappy, so hardly anyone was in the mood to do anything. After all of this, we had to figure out what to do for the after-prom. My friends & I had a falling out a few weeks before prom when we were discussing transportation and after-prom parties. Originally, we were going to go to a comedy club. We'd already paid & stuff, but about a week before prom, people backed out, so we never got our money back. Eventually, we settled on going on this one cruise, which was totally whack.. & that was 100. So you guys can do the math. After the cruise, we went to the beach to watch the sunrise. Totally overrated. I could've better spent the money that I'd spent on prom on like a muffler or something.
lol my school sucked so I didn't go. They say "oh its once in a life-time" but whatever wasn't really my thing.
Its the last day of the best period of your life... The Teenage years. However... this is only applicable to people that enjoyed their teens. Some people have awkward teenage years, but for me... high school was the bomb. I had a girl friend, cool friends, bball team, break dancing, etc... to keep me busy. SO it just depends on the person. Personally.. I wouldnt spend G's on it..
prom sucked ass for me and now that i think about it i feel bad cause i made it suck for my date too =P Really was not in the mood for the whole night i wantedd to sleep more than anything... not much of a dancer so my date kinda just sat with me the whole time which was really nice of her. Missed the afterparty to going to the beach and watch the sunrise and i got a huge misquito bite on my face. mystery... what kinda school you go to??? your prom is on a freaking yacht??? damnnnn mine was at a banquet hall that served us shitty food and had a wedding like right beside us LOL
it depends on who your date is and how much money you could spend without feeling guilty mine personally sucked really bad.
We don't have things like that over here in UK I would have loved to of had a prom when I was at that age
my prom was amazing...ultimately the best night of my high school career. well i mean MY OWN high school prom i went to 5 proms in my 4 years of high school, but my own prom was the one that topped it off. i spent 60 bucks on a dress, 80 bucks on shoes, 30 on hair, nails for free, 50 for my ticket and 50 for limo. partied till 12, then went to the most amazing after party with 15 kegs, a bonfire, pool & hot tub with port-a-potties and the cops couldn't do anything. lol was definately worth all the money spent on that day.!!!!
you're going on a yacht for a prom? you must really go to a rich school or something cause the prom offered from my school was in a museum.
Yes, grad (as we call it here) is soooo overrated. My friends all bought their dresses back in the winter and spent over 500$ on that..., and then finding a date, riding in a limo, and a whole load of other crap. For me, I think I'm just going to have fun- I haven't even started dress shopping. What's the point of spending half a grand on a dress that will only be seen for a MERE 3 hours!!! Argh. Stupid.
