to start believing in a religion just because you have a chance of dying now? like your whole life you were atheist, so you dont believe in anything, but now you have an illness that can kill you, and now you start to think you might want to start believing in god.

so what im saying is, is it okay to have your back turned to god this whole time, but when you need that extra hope and faith u become religious, naw mean.

maybe ill stick with the survival of the fittest theory. still young. still strong, grrrr.

Most religions believe in forgiving and similar terms. When you turn your back away from religion and only start believing in it because you sufer, there is nothing wrong with that. Challenges are made and given by God in order to help you. By convincing you to convert through disease and problems, you did not commit error, you were saved.

    In my opinion at least.

I despise those who convert to a particular religion just because it may give them eternal life or forgiveness after they die. To me, religion and philosophy is an all-encompassing term, I do have my own religion and philosophy I rest in peace with it, knowing I live to the fullest with that knowledge.

That is like 临急抱佛脚, except in that case, it is 临急抱神脚. lol

Not a good thing to do since faith requires accumulation to show sincerity I think.

I will have to say that it's not my place to judge if someone does do such a thing, of course at first, I will think that this new-found "faith" or "zeal" is superficial, but again it is not my place, that's between God and this individual. God is the reader of the heart and knows the true motivations behind their actions, so it's not my right to judge, if the person seems sincere.

I believe it's OK. There could be many reasons why you didn't before. But if you really believe that you need God, then of course it's OK.
