    Hello, how do you protect against hackers and hide your ip address or whatever it is so you're safe when you're online. THanks!

    sorry but i dont know what a proxy is..

    To be on the safe side you know? what about hte ip address, what is it exactly? how do i "hide" it..

    I believe there's actually programs available on the internet for you to download. Which will allow you to protect your Ip Address.

    Just get a decent firewall. The odds of a hacker attacking you are pretty slim.

    one of the better proxied that i've used is ultrasurf found here

    http://www.wujie.net/downloads/ultrasurf/u.zip

    its fairly simple and it does all the settings for you when you use the software no extra settings required

    to add another layer of security if your scared is get peer guardian, it blocks specific ports from your computer and also has a catalog of sites and ip to block

    why do you even need to hide your IP? lol like everyone else says just firewall and usually if you have a router you are already quite protected....

    ye a firewall gives u sufficent protection from hackers as the hackers wouldn't be able to detect ur ip through a port scan and a firewall protects u more than a proxy i would imagine.

    proxy is more of a method of routing your traffic from one location to another location so people can't "really" track where you are coming from. Kinda like a spy masking his tracks etc.

    A firewall is a dedicated appliance, or software running on another computer, which inspects network traffic passing through it, and denies or permits passage based on a set of rules.

    2 very different methods of protection but if your that paranoid about people hacking you by vigilant about your system....get windows updates/mac updates, keep your antivirus up to date, scan for malware/adware/key loggers on a monthly basis more if you are paranoid and make sure the you don't click links from spam or suspicious emails

    google search for a prog named 'Charon' by rino its a free proxy checker the programmer retired but its one of the best i went thorugh
    -anonymous proxy dont hide your ip
    -the proxy you looking for is high_anonymous proxy, which hide ur ip from other sites .......or you can tunnel which is adding a bunch of them too form a chain but its easier said then done cuase proxies dies quick
