Just wanted to see if you guys know the languages you're expected to know. For example, from your mother's side, your father's side, school, or any other ways you could've picked up another language. -cool

y waste ur time lol...just know manderin (official language of the world) and english (official business language)
I know english and canto (good enough to hold a convo), very limited mando. Should know hak ga but parents never spoke it to me, even though thats the language most of my relatives in china speak (but its good they can speak canto too). Learnt some spanish at high school, mostly forgotten
Well, firstly, I'm obviously supposed to know English because it's the official language here. Secondly, I'm also supposed to know Cantonese, which I do. I'm also expected to know Mandarin because that's what my parents speak. I can understand it pretty good - better than the average Canto speaker - but when speaking it, it's very limited. I'm also supposed to know French because I've been in immersion since Kindergarten. I can understand/speak it alright, but I prefer not to...
Living in the states, I am obviously required to know English, which I do... sorta. Since my mom speaks Mandarin, and my dad can speak both Mandarin and Cantonese, I understand both languages, although I'd say I'm much more fluent in Mando. My Cantonese is a bit shoddy. I've also picked some Vietnamese from my friends, and Spanish which is one of the hs requirements here.
