Sunday December 16, 2007 Hong Kong A vote-pulling event for this year's Metro Radio Hit Music Awards was held at a Tsuen Wan shopping mall yesterday, attended by Miriam Yeung (楊千嬅), Hins Cheung (張敬軒), Kelvin Kwan (關楚耀), Vincy Chan (泳兒) and Kay Tse (謝安琪). The top three names in the running for the World's Hit Singer Award were announced at the event as Andy Lau (劉德華), Eason Chan (陳奕迅) and Miriam. In response to this news, Miriam felt that Eason should win the award because he claims to be "King of the Universe". Kelly Chen (陳慧琳) has commented that Miriam is her choice to win the Asia Pacific Most Popular Female Singer award and when asked about this, Miriam thanked Kelly for her support, but said modestly that she still has far to go, because she is still not married with children. When reporters pointed out that Kelly is also still single, she said that at least Kelly has found her other half and did truly break into Asia Pacific, whereas her own development has just been in China. Kelvin was photographed by the paparazzi shopping for a double bed with Gia Lam (林苑) earlier and the reports also suggested that he has split up from rumoured girlfriend Jill Vidal (衛詩) after pressure from the record company. Kelvin explained that he had met Gia whilst they were working in Beijing and as they have not met up for a while, they joined together to go Christmas shopping. He added that they were not shopping for a bed, but in fact were looking at a bathrobe that was on display nearby. He also laughed that the robe cost over HK$10,000 so he would prefer not to wear one. There have been rumours recently suggesting that Hins is having a gay relationship with Kenny Kwan (關智斌), but he made it clear with reporters at yesterday's event that he is not homosexual. He laughed that after the reports broke, he received a call from his mother asking about the story: "She said that I can play with anything I like, but I must not play with 'brokeback' because she is afraid that the family elders would not be happy about it." credits: batgwa.
