I had the similar problem last month, tried all the solutions suggested on the internet but without any success. I wasted a lot of time trying to fix this error. I decided to save all the data on the hard disk, rebuild XP and reinstall all the software. It took me a weekend to complete all the tasks.

I think it is much quicker to rebuild Windows than trying to fix the error unless you have a full backup of your operating system.

sounds like some software interference problems.... pretty hard to fix if you have no clue what you're doing so suggest you to back up everything and just format.
