Yesterday, Hawick Lau (劉愷威) and Yang Mi (楊冪) finally announced that they are expectant parents. Hawick happily thanked everyone for their concern and apologized for not confirming Yang Mi’s pregnancy earlier; the couple had wanted to wait until Yang Mi passed her first trimester of pregnancy. Since registering for marriage last November, the couple’s rushed wedding plans were speculated to be due to Yang Mi’s pregnancy. During their wedding ceremony in Bali, Indonesia in early January, Hawick and Yang Mi never directly admitted to already having a baby. However, the bride was seen with a rounded figure and said that she is ready to become a mother anytime. Hawick wrote on Weibo, “Finally we’ve passed the days in which we had to keep a secret in midst of excitement and happiness. Everyone, Yang Mi and I now have a baby! In order to keep our baby healthy and safe, we have complied with the elders’ tradition that it must be at least three months before we can make the news public. We apologize for being unable to respond truthfully to everyone’s concerns in the past, but we hope you all understand. I would also like to thank everyone’s patience in waiting for us to announce the news.” Hawick also revealed Yang Mi has been pregnant for over three months now and their baby is currently very healthy, expecting to be delivered this July.
