In the last 10 years, Hanjin Tan has emerged to be one of the most in-demand musicians in Chinese pop music who is also a rare all-rounder with his recognized talents in writing, performing, producing, mixing, and arranging songs. But among his many roles he is perhaps most influential as a songwriter, for he has written as many as 500 songs since first composing for Jacky Cheung in 1998, and many of which went on to become popular hits and award-winners. The prolific hitmaker from Singapore has now come up with a compilation album consisting of 13 demo tapes he created for other singers in the last decade. The selections include Till the End for Leon Lai's "Come Back and Say You Love Me", Forgiveness for Sammi Cheng's "Crime and Punishment", plus other demos made for Julian Cheung, Jam Hsiao, Jason Chan, Ronald Cheng, Fiona Sit, Van Fan, Sherman Chung, and some other singers. By way of these precious demos, music fans can gain a better appreciation of those well-known songs and their creator's original visions, and may even get a glimpse of how the songs evolved from their initial versions.
