In what may be an ominous cue for the rest of the world, Guatamala elects a well known comic to become their next president. Jimmy Morales, best known for his portrayal of dummies and nitwits, ran and won on the simple electoral slogan of "Not Corrupt, Nor a Thief." This was during a time when the former president, Otto Pérez Molina, was found by UN investigators as being the head of a huge bribery organization, which also stole cash from public funds. Morales received more than two times the votes than his opponent, ex-first lady Sandra Torres, When asked, voters stated that they didn't have any hope that a comedian could change their country for the better, saying instead, that he was the least dangerous option to their country. http://www.nytimes.com/2015/10/26/w...-to-be-elected-guatemalas-president.html?_r=0 http://www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-34642156
