well first of all i'm a buddhist but i think christianity is very interesting. i like to understand other religions and the lessons they teach about life, but not necessarily believe in god etc... if u know what i mean. don't shoot me lol.

anyway i've been reading paradise lost by john milton and i thought it was pretty interesting in the way how Christianity is so set up to have a perfect society. in satan and his demons' rebellion against god, he was defeated, banished and chained up in the lake of fire. but if god is omnipotent and omniscient, doesn't the metaphor of satan's defeat mean that no evil can survive as long as god is here to look over people?

but yet, even in other revenge texts (yeah im an english nerd... so what haha) such as Medea, The Revenger's Tragedy, The Count of Monte Cristo and V for Vendetta, god's power seems to contradict his judgement. If someone is to take revenge for the sole purpose that he was wronged, and because of a corrupt justice system, he has to take revenge on the corruption to not only rid society of evil and corruption, but also for personal honour. To do this, he has to kill and under Christian morality, that's a sin.

So for doing something that is supposed to cleanse society of evil, under Christianity, he still has to be punished. So does that mean he goes to hell forever or just to purgatory (even though the pope says there's no such thing as purgatory....) to repent his sins and then goes to heaven?

anyway yeah... sry for long post and if it doesn't make any sense lol. but i think it's kind interesting. -worship

LOL, if you question that, why don't you question the more absurd one first?
According to some Christians, even people who don't kill, basically, people who have led their lives being a generally morally good person, would go to Hell forever... <_< purely because they are NOT Christians.

For discussion on that, go to this thread : Christianity: Do Non-Believers go to Hell?

Well, I've heard from a former teacher of mine which was fired for teaching about god in class, he said that it doesn't matter if a person sins his entire life as long as he truely accepts god and sincerely asks for god's forgiveness even if it's just moments before dying, that person will be forgiven and allowed into heaven.

The teacher was a hardcore christian. He was warned more than once and the class after mine brought a camcorder into class and had recorded him teaching about chritianity and god in class and he was fired because of it. He was a pretty cool teacher though so I felt bad for him.

^i wouldnt feel bad, teaching a religion has no place in education, except when you teach all religions fairly and equally so that the students can make informed choices or just to simply be aware of such religions
