Matthew planned to celebrate Gigi's birthday (March 25) in Japan but an earthquake happened on the 11th. Gigi changed her plan and went to Spain instead, upsetting her beau in Hong Kong. Also, Matthew's term in Hong Kong will end next year, which means he will have to leave soon, making the relationship into a distant one. Plus, Gigi didn't treat him too well when he went to see her concert in Beijing last Christmas, looks like Gigi decided to break it off in the end. As for the break-up, Gigi expressed she is not replying to her personal matters. Her manager even persisted that they never admit they are in a relationship; just good friends.
