Hi All, I am thinking of doing GCSE Chinese, I understand the syllabus has changed since 2009. I'm a BBC, can speak fluent Cantonese but my writing and reading lets me down big time. I will to learn reading and writing however I hear that the official study text book is all in Chinese simplified and not traditional. I used to go to Chinese Sundays schools and was taught traditional. I would prefer to study for the GCSE in traditional text. My questions: * Does anybody know of any text books that covers the 2009 syllabus in Chinese traditional? * Will the exams be in Cantonese or Mandarin (speaking and listening) * Will HK employers look down on GCSE Chinese in UK because it is too easy compared to HK ones? Thanks in advance!
I did it through chinese school, so speaking in canto wasnt assessed because everyone communicates well.. it was in cantonese, the certificate is better than nothing, if you can talk fluently its not a problem for HKers, my bro is bbc, chinese was limited but got job in HK. I got A* for it, very easy. In A-level standards they look for is much higher. . Oh btw, you dont even have to study for it and you will pass no problem!
