Anyone using one of these things? I've read a few reviews and they all sound promising but I'm curious if anyone on PA could give me a first hand impression. :eat:
I have the FiiO E3... It's alright depending on the headphones you use. I haven't used it since I had the UE 700 headphones. I only used the amp on weaker headphones/earbuds such as JVC Gummy and Marshmallow and others.
It looks very promising and be more than enough to drive your 595s. Really interested in hearing what owners have to say about it.
get it and let us know.. lol.. with the 595s do you necessarily need an amp though? does it make the sound that much better?
i got the E5 which came with my Brainwavz M2 but since the quality of the M2 was so good i barely noticed a big difference in sound quality. What it did good was add more volume to the ear buds as an amp but i have yet to try it with crappy iems to know the effectiveness.
I tested the E3 today using my UE 700. It seems to make the volume louder and added more bass. That's about it though, not too much difference. Although I can't really compare the E3 to E5 or E7.
lol for curiosity purposes, i looked up the specs for the HD 595... Holy shit really? that's sooo over spec'd lmao who can listen to more than 22KHz? And the Sensitivity is 112db (correct me if I'm wrong on the specs), that's way more than the average headphone sensitivity... Which means you don't need much wattage going to the headphones to produce loud sound... Is an amp therefore necessary for the HDs? lmao Don't get me wrong, I'd still get it though :naughty:
I'm not really interested in the amp part. I don't need huge amounts of volume. I'm more interested in the DAC giving better fidelity. I'll use my 595's for a while and let them burn in for like 50-100 hours or so and then see from there if I think I could benefit from an amp. Another audio question, do you think audio cables like this: http://cgi.ebay.ca/Silver-Audio-Oil...100?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item45f87883fc would give a better sound than regular RCA or are high priced interconnects just a moneygrab?
Makes me kinda want to make this just for fun: http://www.instructables.com/id/Headphone-Amp-Chu-Moy/
The purpose of an amp is not to increase loudness but to strengthen the signal this helps clean and open up the sound. When a pair of headphones aren't being driven correctly, the sound becomes distorted and muddy. This usually happens at either the high or low frequencies.
Lol my bad... I've been doing massive research on hifi/headfi today, while procrastinating on my studying.. Ignore my noob assumptions earlier lmao
I had my eye on a CMOY amp as well... http://cgi.ebay.ca/Micro-Cmoy-headp...860?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cb47b820c they are very cool little DIY engineering projects. Honestly when it comes down to it though, I want the cheapest amp that gives me the best sound possible. I think I've come full circle back to a tube amplifier under $150.
