Wednesday, October 11, 2006 Hong Kong Fans and Hong Kong singers held a commemorative activity Tuesday to observe what would have been the 43th birthday of the late pop star and actress Anita Mui. Hong Kong stars and Mui's close friends, including Miriam Yeung (杨千嬅), Louisa So (苏玉华) and Theresa Fu(傅颖), held a charity cooking competition to make some of Anita's favorite foods. Fans in Hong Kong offered a DVD called "Butterfly Lovers" by Mui's protege Denise Ho as a birthday gift to their idol. Anita Mui died of cervical cancer on December 30, 2003. She was 40. Mui gained fame as an actress, winning Taiwan's Golden Horse award for best actress in 1987 for her role as a tormented ghost in the movie "Rouge." The unmarried star was also known for her charity work. She set up the Anita Mui Charity Foundation in the early 1990s. credits: crienglish, asianfanatics.
