Another one of Fala Chen's independent short films, "Heading South" has recently won an award.

As reported on Mingpao, the actress recently shared the good news on Instagram with a photo of her production team, writing, "Our film "Heading South" just won the Grand Prize of Director Guild of America Student Film Award! We had such a fun time in Inner Mongolia making this beautiful film. Congrats to our writer/director."

Fala also attended the said event and went on stage to accept the award alongside her director Yuan Yuan.

It is noted that Fala made her way to Mongolia for the first time specifically for this particular movie, and even self-funded her trip knowing that the movie has a small budget.

She also shared that the entire cast and crew came from all over the world, from the United States, Hong Kong, to mainland China, to work together in the project.

Last year, the actress won an award at the Hong Kong Short Film Competition for her directorial effort, the short film "Passinger".
