Has anyone here ever broken a bone? More specifically, broken thier foot. I was playing some ball yesterday night, went up for a board. Then landed on someone's foot on the way down. I fell to the ground immediately. It was the most painful feeling that has ever shot up my foot towards my leg. I felt a numbing sensation, and I dragged myself to the side of the court. The pain was so serious. Good thing there one of the players I was playing a against was a graduate from U of T, as a physiotherapist. He had some sports tape on him and was patching up my foot. Honestly the next thing I knew he literally made a cast right in front of my eyes. I thought it was a little overkill. I thought this was just a small thing. But anywho, a night passed by, and it still hurts like mad. The guy was telling me that if it's sore in certain spots around the ankle, or you find yourself waking up because of pain that it's likely that it's not broken but fractured. So to you guys, has anyone ever fractured thier foot or anything? Did you need a cast or anything like that? Or are those only for serious injuries? Cause seriously I woke up in the middle of nigh tlast night, my foot felt so swollen. Things are better now, but it's the weekend and I can't even work on my school project because I can't even put pressure on my foot without feeling pain shoot up my foot. I've yet to see a doctor, because I lost my health card. I just want to know if anyone here has ever been through this, and was it serious, cause I've never broken a bone in my life. Now I'm lying in my bed asking PA, cause I can't get up and do anything else about it right now, other than moan and complain.
so how come u didn't go to the hospital and get an xray...im sure if u gave them ur name and stuff they can chek ur health card stuff...iv only twisted my foot not broken or fractured.... so uoft stuend really know their stuff ehhhhhh lol... didn't they accept me...i coulda been a hero
look same thing happened to me, but it was while sparring in martial arts instead.. i was sparring for my red belt, and i slipped on a freaking duct tape... i know lame, but i really did... so i fractured 3 of my bones in my foot, had an x-ray, and got a cast. but problem is, its going to heal in the fractured position. so i went to some chinese guy, and you know how in chinese movies, some dudes just put their bones back into place, well this guy did the same to my foot. better off go to this chinese guy and have your foot healed in the right position, or else its gonna hurt for the rest of your life.
I stopped reading after playing some ball, because I know how it feels. Just reading it makes me want to barf and grab my ankle. I've cracked my pelvis bone from skating, I couldn't sit/stand/walk very long/far for a few months. I've broken/dislocated my shoulders from jungle gyms. Breaking it wasn't painful at all, but dislocating it made me go insane. The worst thing I've seen with my own eyes, was when my friends and I were running from the security guards, one of my friends climbed over a fence and landed bad. Instead of climbing down, he jumped down and landed on his palms. His ulna or radius bone protruded out of his arm and he started screaming. He said it didn't hurt much, but it looked fu-king disgusting, bone sticking out of skin is like some next level $hit.
broken ankles before, both of em. Busted a few ribs. and a dislocated shoulder. And all from the joys of boarding.
*eww..*lol sounds painful ^ Never fractured, broken a bone.. Guess I should be grateful for that after reading all this.
My son broke his elbow running into a wall in the schoolyard. He had a cast on for about 3 weeks and had to wait 5 more weeks to fully heal.
Update: so it's been 3 days and my foot is still swollen like hell. I'm finally going to the doctor because if it was just a sprain, this thing should be healed already, right? I just wanted to avoid going to the doctor because I didn't want to have to get a cast and all that other stuff and have it interfere with my daily activities, but I probably have to go now since the pain hasn't ceased. Thank you everybody for the info anyways.
Certainly suggest you go have it taken an x-ray. I broke my wrist when I was young, had it plastered but apparently it appeared that I also had a crack on my elbow.
so far ive been lucky and not broken any bones yet, but my friend has broken her ankle loads of times - think once you get it borken its easier to get broken again
