Thursday October 18, 2007 Hong Kong The annual musical extravaganza TVB Singers Celebrate The Anniversary <翡翠歌星賀台慶> will be taking place on 03 November at TVB City. A press conference was held today to announce the acts for the show. The male and female singers' teams will be have Eric Tsang (曾志偉) and Carol Cheng (鄭裕玲) as captains; Alan Tam (譚詠麟) and Teresa Carpio (杜麗莎) as chief commanders and Leo Ku (古巨基), Andy Hui (許志安), Joey Yung (容祖兒) and Miriam Yeung (楊千嬅) as commanders. As usual, there will be stage battles between the gentlemen in red and ladies in white and attendance from over 100 contracted singers. Today's event was attended by many of the singers and was opened with the standard fighting talk from Carol and Nat Chan (陳百祥). The male and female stars then paired up and showed off their dance moves. First up were Eric Suen (孫耀威) and Vangie Tang (鄧穎芝), but Eric went a little nuts and chased after Vangie, shaking his groin area at her whilst he was dancing. She was so frightened that she kept running away and even Carol commented that Eric was being quite vicious. Afterwards, Vangie admitted that she was quite frightened by him. Eric later said that this was quite a popular dance move in the West, but apologised to Vangie if he frightened her. He insisted that he did not make contact with her at any point. When Joey and Nat had their turn, Carol warned her to be careful because Nat has quite a reputation, but her worried were unfounded as there was no contact between them during their dance. Rumoured couple Wilfred Lau (劉浩龍) and Stephanie Cheng (鄭融) were singled out by Alan for a special performance and despite hiding behind the crowd, Wilfred was dragged out, looking very embarrassed and flushed. He explained that he was not very good at dancing and in previous years, his performance made him look like a robot. Alan was asked if his good friend Hacken Lee (李克勤) was due to become a father very soon and he replied that he did not know. He joked that he had asked Hacken not to share any secrets with him so that he could not be accused of revealing them. Asked about Kelly Chen (陳慧琳)'s decision not to sign with TVB, he said that she has a very deep foundation and has the power to make that choice. As for whether he has a contract with TVB, Alan laughed: "I have not had a contract with TVB since the 70s!" With numerous complaints about TVB being tyrannical recently, Alan felt that every company has its own regulations and conditions and these are simply the rules of the game. credits: batgwa.
