(Jaydon Chavez-Silver died from gunshot wounds)

Recent account of a firefighter officer told a desperate 911 caller who was trying to save someone with a gunshot wound to 'deal with it yourself' before hanging up on her.

Jaydon Chavez-Silver, only 17 , died after being fatally shot at a house party in Alberquerque last month.

He was shot after a stranger passed by the house and had just randomly opened fire 6 times wounding Jaydon.

A lady at the party immediately called emergency services and had snapped at the operator Matthew Sanchez, who worked for the Albuquerque fire department after he kept on repeatedly asking if Jaydon was breathing.

Sanchez then responded by telling the caller: "I'm not gunna deal with this, OK?" and hung up the phone.

    Jaydon later died in hospital.

His mother Nicole Chavez reported that she'd "heard rumors about the 911 operator hanging up on the caller when Jaydon was shot bit had no other information. After hearing the call today, it is heartbreaking to listen to.

‘Right now, we just want to find the people responsible for this violent, deadly crime. We have set up a reward fund at Bank of the West and it is up to $4000. Anyone with information can call 242-COPS."

    TRANSCRIPT OF CALL:

Caller: (inaudible) I'm keeping him alive.

    Sanchez: Is he not breathing?

Caller: Barely. (inaudible) Stay with me. Stay with me, ok. Good job Jaydon.

    Sanchez: Is he breathing?

Caller: He's barely breathing. How many times do I have to f---ing tell you?

Sanchez: Ok, do you what ma'am? You can deal with yourself. I'm not going to deal with this, ok.

Caller: No, he's going to die.

    The call ends there.

  2. WTF... emergency operators can just hang up?? don't they have to send someone even if they think it sounds suspect? ... you know, just in case?

This emergency operator will be fired for sure.. His action is very unprofessional, he might even face serious legal problems. I think, with a head shot, he would likely die anyways. But the time wasted to get help could had cause him to die as well, with these serious injuries, every sec matters. I think this might had cause quite a delay on help coming to them.

    There will be a lawsuit.

This is nonfeasance, which I think also rises to a level of criminality. That the dispatcher be terminated is a given; however, it was his spiteful nature, directed at the caller that raises the stakes beyond simply "failing to do his job." Had he simply hung up, that alone would be not doing his job. But his retort to her, in the context of the call, was his way of saying, "Oh yeah? Well, f*ck you too!" Whether his actions contributed to the demise of the young man is moot.

That operator had one job...and failed. Heard about this earlier today and I agree with the rest, he should be terminated of his position and should expect a calling.
