While attending a promotion event for a fashion brand earlier, Hong Kong singer Ella Koon (官恩娜) announced that she is currently diagnosed with Bell’s Palsy. Bell’s Palsy is a type of facial paralysis that occurs because of damage to the cranial nerve. This results in the inability to control facial muscles on either one or both sides of the face. Ella appeared very stiff and wore a frown the entire time during the promotional event. She believed that her paralysis occurred because of a bacterial infection from a fever earlier. She is unable to control the right side of her face and blink. Shedding tears while speaking about her condition, Ella disclosed, “It’s a possibility that this is happening because of an infection from my fever. I’m currently taking high doses of steroids and that’s why my face is so swollen. My doctor told me to rest and told me people who suffer from Bell’s Palsy usually starts getting better after a month. It’ll take three to six months to heal completely. If I’m lucky – it’ll be better in a couple of weeks.” Taking a break from her current promotions, it is estimated that Ella lost around six-figures in compensation. However, lightening up the mood, Ella joked that her voice has surprisingly become even better after taking her steroids. Creds: Chinanews
