Even though many people criticized making a new edition of Hua Yuan Jia, the broadcast companies and foreign broadcast professionals have described it as very exciting. The story is faithful to the 1981 edition but it is not a copy, the new edition focuses more on relationships and is very touching. The original edition was unable to realize some of the ideas that modern movie making can now accomplish, to the producers hope that the audience will have an out of the ordinary experience. As much as possible however they didn't use special effects, using real weapons and live ammunition. While this made for a more authentic effect, some of the actors made mistakes along the way and sustained injuries. However everyone was very diligent and all along there were no complaints.
