Tuesday May 27, 2008 Hong Kong Emperor Entertainment Group staff and artistes have been busy raising funds for the Sichuan Earthquake appeal in the past few weeks and the total money raised so far has exceeded HK$2 million. A ceremony was held today, where company boss Albert Yeung (楊受成) was joined by Nicholas Tse (謝霆鋒) and Joey Yung (容祖兒) to present a cheque to Mr Li Gang (李剛), representing the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in Hong Kong. Nicholas appeared at the event with bandages on his arm and face, easily mistaken for emulating a quake victim. He explained that he had rushed over especially for the ceremony and had to return to filming, so he had not taken off the make-up and costume from the scene that had been filming. After the cheque was handed over, he swiftly returned to work. Joey revealed that she will be joining the HKPAG contingency to visit the areas in Sichuan affected by the quake and hoped that she will bring some love and care to the victims. The group of artistes will be heading out tomorrow and returning on 30 May. She also said that she will be taking part in the charity concert planned for 01 June. Asked what she thought about comments from Jacky Cheung (張學友) and other celebrities saying that visits like this will disturb the relief efforts, Joey said that she understood their sentiments and hoped that she will not get in the way. Manager to many of EEG's artistes, Mani Fok (霍汶希) told reporters that a total of HK$1 million had been donated personally by the big names on her books, including Nicholas, Joey and Twins. Asked whether or not Gillian Chung (鍾欣桐) will be taking part in the concert, Mani said that Gillian will not be performing because she has gone abroad to take a course that will last around a month. credits: batgwa.
lol Im sure EEG could do better but o well, better than nothing, ANyway theres a Lot of Funtional FundRaising for this earthquake , woulda epected more.
$2 million .. that's sad. that's not even half a paycheck from some these celebrities . i really expected more from the entertainment and business industry to help out these victims but evidently, not. $2 million is like chump change and can't do much to help so many people who have lost all their livelihoods.
um maybe its 2 million as in 2 000 000 not 20 , 000 um anyway i reckon hk is doing a lot with fundrasing, i mean they're still having those shows right now =P
