It's all in English. Here it is. [HIDE]http://www.megaupload.com/?d=PLSFSXPF[/HIDE]

I bet you HIS PR flew him in when the media was covering Lydia Shum's passing.

He admitted most of the photos circulated were taken by him, but that they were meant for private and someone stole them. He apologized to all the ladies, their families, his family, everyone in HK and asked for forgiveness. He also said he will "finish his current commitments and then will be stepping away from the HK entertainment industry indefinitely, without a time frame, to heal and to search his soul. He will dedicate his time in charity work in the next few month."

I think the statement essentially allows him to return later.

    He did it in English.

Why is everyone so obsessed with him speaking in Cantonese?? Weird. It's not like half of PA doesn't know English, yet somehow it occurs to many that an apology is more sincere in Cantonese than it is in English.

i don't think people are obsessed with him speaking in english, but would like to see an apology in cantonese, or in some form..... because the women involved speak cantonese. Unless you have seen these women speaking in english in public? just wanted to edit that Maggie Q does speak english...so that's one person that will get the apology to her one way or another.

Its a matter of face in a chinese society. plus he's not addressing people in Canada or in America, but to the Hong Kong people.

true i agree with that, but he can get it right regardless, because his statements are written out for him regardless if the media interprets it wrong. Because the media will do that, interpret it to the cantonese speaking audience. He can still say sorry in cantonese and still give his statement entirely in english. that route would have satisfied both sides.

Well, I am not THEM, so I can't say for certain that Edison did (or did not) sweet talk the girls in English or Cantonese... I personally don't think it matters much what language it is in, Cantonese vs. English (since both are still official language of Hong Kong), as long as it is (or sound) sincere...

I don't know, I could just be biased towards him (instead of the ladies).

Well, wrong interpretation can be everything. It would be the media's problem if they mis-interpreted it... And I think it's even less sincere if he said the apology only in Cantonese because then people will go "why doesn't he speak Cantonese the entire time?" or "why didn't he speak in Cantonese in his first release (the video)?" and shite like that.

Personally, I just think these are just excuses to flame him, nit-picking and all.

sorry, i wasn't trying to nit pick or flame him. But i just see him as a no talent actor to begin with in either language. I didn't like him before this incident or after it.

well, this is Hong Kong. More people understand cantonese than english. Edison was doing that on purpose so not everyone could understand him.

But that commercial isn't shown outside of Chinese speaking countries... Which makes the Chinese part necessary (since that's the way L'oreal do things, with Michelle Reis, Gong Li etc, it's the same, regardless of their broken English or whatnot)
