I'm thinking about goint to get an ear catilage piercing (top bit) but I heard that there are certain risk (I heard that it might cause blindness?). I am also worried about the pain factor. Also I need advice on what not to eat before/after a piercing??

    thanks -^_^

  2. umm stay away from pineapples.. watermelons... mostly fruits of any kind... as it could all cause excessive swelling... vegetables are ok... but they do tend to interact with the nervous system thus send a lot of pain to the pierced area... and meats will definitely reduce the natural blood flow which will make the pierced area harder to heal...

When you get that part pierced, make sure that whoever is piercing you is not using a gun and is using a needle. The impact from using a gun can shatter your ears, causing a deformity.

For me, when I pierced the cartilage, it didn't hurt at first, but after a day or two, it started hurting like crazy. Plus, because it is the cartilage, if you take out the earring, the cartilage regrows quickly, and you will need to repierce it.

Yeah i heard that it hurts and that its kinda risky. I always thought about getting one, but pierced my eyebrow instead. I feel kinda old now since Im about to graduate, so no more piercings and tattoo's for me.

i didnt know there were certain foods and u should stay away from when you're gettin a piercing, esp in the ear! i pierced my cartilage w/ no problems. i didnt do anything different except clean it a couple times a day. o btw, piercing cartilage doesn't hurt. and its not true that girls will suck yo... if their tongues pierced ecko!

I have 6 piercings right now, 3 of which are cartilage piercings..
I wouldn't recommend it if you're afraid of deformity since it does happen. I had it pierced 3 times and all three times it got infected and so on. It's not really noticible but my ears are probably considered deformed. When i touch it, it's hard and thick because some skin grew over where it was pierced. It's kindof like a little bead in both upper ears.

I had my cartilage pierced with a gun. It got infected a year later, but I just let it close and re-pierced it. You couldn't even tell that I was having it done for the second time.

how could it cause blindness??, but you do have to be careful if there's an infection, your ear might become deformed

i had my cartilage pierced like a month ago and honestly, its not as bad as everyone hypes it to be. ive been washing it daily with disinfectant soap that the place gave me..and yea, it hurts, but hey, you're putting a hole in your body. ...ive NEVER heard of blindness associated with piercing tho. and the fruits thing? never heard of that either..

surprisingly i didnt get any infections. my normal earlobe piercings did get infected, tho. strange eh?

well if you're going to get it pierced, DEFINITELY get some sea salt to soak the piercing in. it definitely helps soothes the pain and help the wound heal faster. good luck!
