hmm... yeh im thinking of changing my product.

the next part of that assignment I have to:
Evaluate the business strategy of each e-commerce organisation using EITHER a strategic environment analysis technique OR a capability analysis technique on each case. Justify your choice of analysis technique.

so basically PEST analysis or Porter’s Five Forces [this one seems easier].

So which product you reckon I should investigate?

    this is my current:
    First organisation:
    http://www.yesasia.com – clicks

    Second organisation:
    Hong Kong Records – mortar

    Third organisation:
    http://www.hmv.com.hk - clicks and mortar

my lecturer says doesn't have to be based within the UK. But if i was to investigate and evaluate ans find some info. example: Share research & prices: http://www.h-l.co.uk/shares not much info I can get. :/

then why choose such a small target market and hard to find resources/companies that does the same thing? why not a computer store like Dell.com perhaps, there should be a tone of computer shops in anywhere?
is way harder to restrict yourself on the company name/type of biz and then find info...find a larger difference of world recolonized comapnies and compare to local shops? (ie. FedEx vs. shipping company)?
can you change topic now that u have submitted the info to your prof?

hmm... I suppose so. No, not too late, we only just started so I can easily change it now. Okay, I'm going to change my product now. I might consider doing the ipod. You think this one is better?

Apple <---store and online [has a shop and can buy online] http://www.apple.co.uk
Comet <---- store and online [has a shop an can buy online] http://www.comet.co.uk

I need one more organisation that is only a shop and doesn't have a website to buy off there.

You think these chosen 2 organisation will be easier now?

that i am not sure about what store that has only stores to buy from and not online...and the only one i recently visited is H&M <-- a designer clothing store that sells them a fraction of the prices...they have a site, but only as informational about products and no place to buy online -sweat

i would assume the expensive handbag stores would probably do that same? (COACH, LV, etc)

I'm working on the new entrants for the 3 organisationg. Started doing Primark, and not much I can do. :/

Barriers to entry is what's stopping/dificult for the organisation to enter the market right?
Well... Primark sells low prices of clothing anyways.. so what's actaully stopping them?! ...maybe I should add that it only sells clothes? Or maybe not much brand names? i dunno. :/

Next, I'm going to do H&M and Marks and Spencers for new entrants and etc...

low prices = lower quality? for thrifty families really and cannot get higher income families to shop? maybe try creating a survey (survey monkey? or other sites) and see how many would would buy from the shops...a set of questions will include SEX, AGE, INCOME GROUP, etc) can PM me if you want to know what sort of questions to ask, i can do screen shots on the surveys i do on a daily basis...

for entrant clothes, the Joe Fresh brand from a Canadian Supermarket (Superstore) are designers clothes from Club Monaco designers for example but they are sold at a cheaper price in a similar designs, that is a strong move since it will target lower income families who can't afford the more expensive lines from the actual Club Monaco stores, for Primark, which you could say the opposite or even similarities...

is better to have strong background information before choose the brand =)

Marks and Spencers on the other hand is a luxury brand ( from my experience from Hong Kong before ), different stores with different pricings main purpose is taget grounp...wealthy families only buy from expensive place to represent their status

for information about companies, any reliable source could be used, for example, JoeFresh's facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/joefresh) ...

erm... I don't think I can do a survery on this.
Just curious - do you know what porter's 5 forces is?

"low prices = lower quality?" <--- not really, if check on primark site: http://www.primark.co.uk/
Actually, I don't really know. Primark - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia@@AMEPARAM@@/wiki/File:primark_logo.svg" class="image"><img alt="Primark logo.svg" src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/f/f8/Primark_logo.svg/225px-Primark_logo.svg.png"@@AMEPARAM@@en/thumb/f/f8/Primark_logo.svg/225px-Primark_logo.svg.png. They have their own brand names.

It's not entrant clothes.. it's the entrant of the business/organisation/store.

nope i don't know what porter's 5 forces is, the only thing i took while in school was basic marketing & economy that has little relation to what your doing

H&M is high priced? here in Canada, is a lower cost of designer clothes!
