I'm revising for an essay next Friday and I'm just wondering how many people think a higher leverl of education is necessary in order to succeed in life, and why. Please offer your opinions!

    thanks a lot.

I think it is very necessary for you to have higher education in order to be successful.

Although there are some who become quite successful without higher education, not everybody can pull it off as not everybody is as intelligent and innovative as those who make it without higher education (those tech guys, i.e. bill gates, michael dell, paul allen, etc.). If you take a look at the colleges from which these people dropped out, they are all very very prestigious colleges.

With that said, the chances of you being successful with a higher education degree is much higher than if you didn't. Talent comes before luck. Plus, if you didn't have a higher education degree, it'd be much more difficult for you to move up on the corporate ladder to gain the necessary experience for you to be successful. Also, with higher education, you're trained to think on a more sophisticated level. Even though higher education is not all that it takes for you to be successful, it is an important factor that shouldn't be overlooked.

Don't you watch The Apprentice? This is an equation that is not hard to solve.

ur looking at this from a corporate working environment....not all jobs require higher education..this is a tricky question...the deciding factor on if an eduction is necessary highly depends on the job itself...

    Good Education.
    Brilliance.
    Pure Luck.

Pick 2 and you won't be unsuccessful. However, being successful in life takes a hell of a lot more.

  8. I back you up on this one Knoc.

If you wanna approach this the easy way and maybe get on the teacher's good side, then go with what shy said, but if ya don't believe you don't gotta have an higher education to be successful then write that instead.

I personally think you do not necessarily have to have a 'higher' education to be sucessful in life. It's really what higher education means to you... college, graduate school, medical school... most people go because they want to learn about the profession that their gonna persue. Obviously if your passionate about being a doctor or whatever, then persue that higher education and in turn you'll be successful because you picked something you wanted to do and your getting paid for it.

Now with that said, there's no real reason for you to persue a higher education if you are no interested in climbing the 'corporate ladder'. I mean why climb a ladder when you can take the elevator... why wait for some1 to move out the way so you climb that ladder... Is higher education gonna help you learn more about your profession.. yeah. Is higher education gonna teach you how to paint like Picaso, invent like Da Vinci, design clothes like Burberry... not neccessarily... and just who wouldn't label those guys I mentioned "successful." I mean if you find something that you really have a passion for and it doesn't require you to have a 'higher' education, then why waste your time... once you find something your good at and passionate about, then you will automatically be successful.

ehhh...this is a tough question. Half of me wants to go with shy but the other half of me wants to go with the rest of you guys. But I really agree that not everybody can pull it off. I mean I think anyone with a good education will have all least a 75% chance of being successful. The other 25% would be luck.

Well, you can't really CHOOSE to have "luck" or "brilliance" lol...people are just born with it. BUT, you can choose to pursue a good education. So therefore, back to the education thing. Only with a good education will you almost be gauranteed success. Everything else is just dependent upon fate or whatever you want to call it.

    Just my $.02

  10. well that why saying higher education is necessary in order be successful is the easy way of writing it. But I mean of course only a few can pull it off... I mean if everyone could pull it off, there'd be more schools left... But for those that do pull it off... Massive Success!!! Really not everyone has what it takes or the drive, but if you do, then pursue it! Don't just get that education so you can climb the ladder. How much success is that. I pretty sure that there are people with that kinda mentality thinking, oh... get an education and get a job that they think thats success... but I mean if you end up not liking then all your efforts was pretty much fruitless. How successful can you be if you make money, but hate what your doing everyday. Just of Michael Jordan or Tony Hawk. I doubt that getting a 'higher' education was their top priority. And if it was then they wouldn't have played ball or skated like they did. What they put was effort and passion into what they did, and they became successful.

ur all thinking education in the traditional sense...think education outside the box.... something along the lines of the fact that education no longer has to do with traditional book knowldege...this idea of education expands to more then just the class room teaching..."education" no longer has its traditional meaning....

Glad you see my point. You learn quickly young toe dei -hug... but as I said, you need 2 of those. A good education simply isn't enough now a days.

  13. yea but when they said it like higher education, it jus sounds like the traditional book knowledge. Cuz if education was thought outside the box, then really there is no higher education. Like knowing how to perform nuerosurgery is not higher than knowing how to fix a car. Obviously it's just an essay for school and they most likely want you think within the context of school and books...

or u can completely fuck em over n not do what they expect..however...its ur choice...so..when you do have a thesis for this..please do post it..n the word education ..its just its interpretation with the younger generation is very different from before....also...to counter act my own comments...one can be educated in anything..but to be successful...their knowledge must go farther in that area of interest..essentially...higher education....so higher educatuon is necessary to be successfull...but not in the context of the traditional understanding of the terms "education" and "higher education"....now if that wasn't confusing...haaa......

Well, it depends on what you wanna be when you older. If u r fucking rich, then education dont relli matter... Well, to me education matters alot, i want high grades and a good job

  16. It's all stiff competition... just by getting a higher education does not always mean you'll end up with a good job... I always say why settle for a good job, when you can work towards your dream job. And wth... Goo Wak Jai, education...good job... just exactly what kinda goo wak jai are ya?
