It all depends on what you want to use the camera for? What is your budget? Out of all the digital cameras I have seen and tested. Overall nothing beats canon. If you are after a something small and does the job for taking pics with friends. Go for the Canon ixus 55. But you want something with a quicker focus and better quality and don't mind something slightly bigger... go for the canon S80. The s series is a better quality camera than the ixus but both very good. And I haven't seen any of the programs as good as the Canon. It can all be sorted in date range as it is downloaded from the camera to the computer. Most of the other cameras connect to the computer as a drive and you have to sort out and download the photos yourself.
Heh, my family doesn't even have a digital camera yet, we're planning on buying one, and we're asking the same exact question. Lol.
It all depends on your needs and what you plan to do with the camera... I suggest anything Canon. PRetty reliable.
I said go alll the way with Canon. They definitly have the best picture quality!! And believe me cause I tried Nikon, Olympus and Sony before. With their A70-A85 cameras, you can almost choose to do anything you want with them. It has a lot of option, including taking picture in manual mode and also video with sound. Well it's like complete.
i also agree w/ the canon recommenddations. They're so good for the price. I got the Canon A520 for $150 and I LOVE it...its an amazing camera for the price and its known to be the beginner photo enthusiast cam.
i got an olympus one and i think it's not bad but i'm not so good at giving advice cause i haven't use any other brand of digital camera before.
In my opinion, Casio Exilim Z750 is better than all of Canon Ixus range..... The newer Casio Exilim Z850 is even better.....however, the Z750 has better video quality. I had used Canon Ixus, Canon Powershot, Casio z750 and now Casio Z850. I love the Casio.....that is why I bought Z850 when it came out this year....after using the z750 for some time. Love it!!!
I have a Olympus. I bough a Canon IXUS I Zoom for my daughter and she likes it very much. A lot of functions and look nice.
the one of Olympus is very good.. you have different colors, 6 digital zoom and 7,1 megapixxel i'm gonna buy it also
The new Sony cybershot dsc-s45 is a very good entry level digital camera for 1st time users. 5 mp for $150 with 3x optical zoom. Very tough to find a camera with that resolution and price. Can be found at circuit city and walmart.
