Sunday November 25, 2007 Hong Kong Sales of Denise Ho (何韻詩)'s latest album What Really Matters has gone extremely well and the record company held a special ceremony today to present her with her platinum disc. They also announced that the music video for the song "Big Red Gown" <大紅袍> has been entered into the 5th Bigscreen Festival (銀幕國際電影節) this year. The fans also presented Denise with their own award for Best Album of the Year, pre-empting the forthcoming music awards. Asked if this is putting any pressure on her, Denise said that she has a lot of strong opposition this year, so she has not thought about winning anything. She feels that Hins Cheung (張敬軒) has had some very good reviews this year, so she has no expectations. Asked if she thinks Joey will win, she said that the best album awards are based on sales and is not the best female singer. Although Denise admitted that she felt her album was the best quality music, she felt that there were many factors that made it not as suitable for mainstream broadcasting, so this affects her confidence about winning any awards. Asked if the focus of the album should be suiting the taste of the fans, Denise said that the awards are decided by the broadcasters and she admitted that she is yet to break into the mainstream fanbase, so she will keep working at this. As for her video being entered for a film festival, she said that she is sure she will not win anything, but it was a good boost to her confidence and a great encouragement. She extended her thanks to Susan Tse (謝雪心) and hoped that even if she does not win anything, then her work will help to promote Chinese culture to westerners. credits: batgwa.
