About Point Blanc

Point Blanc made his debut in the Malaysian music industry as part of hip hop group Poetic Ammo. Poetic Ammo was one of the first Malaysian hip hop acts to achieve commercial success and recognition. The group has won a number of AIMs, including Best English Album for “It’s A Nice Day To Be Alive” and Best Music Video for “Who Be The Player”. They have released a total of three albums to date, “It’s A Nice Day To Be Alive” (1999), “The World is Yours” (2000), and “Return Of The Boombox” (2003).

In 2001, Point founded rap-rock band Pop Shuvit. The group’s debut album “Take It And Shuvit” was well received, garnering a 2001 AIM nomination for Best New Artiste.

After taking a brief hiatus from the music industry, Point returned to the local music scene in 2005 by setting up his own record label and artiste management company, Voyeur Records. In 2007, Point released his solo debut album, “Straight To The Point”.

“Straight to the Point” has been two years in the making, and the final result is an album that sets out to defy convention with its unique Chinese/English content. From Chinese hip hop tracks like Meng Wan and Banana to a modern twist on Sudirman classic Hujan and of course, English hip hop anthems like Show’s Over and So Fly, “Straight to the Point” is a truly Malaysian product with something for everyone.

Says Point, “Straight to the Point is very autobiographical. Each song was inspired by personal experiences in my life, and especially the last 10 years of being in the music business. I decided from the beginning that this was going to be a tri-lingual album, because I wanted to show that hip-hop isn’t about emulating African American rappers and lifestyles, but it’s an art form that can be expressed in every language and culture”
