Nicky Lee - Shadow (Released April 28, 2005) 1st Album Nicky Lee is a Korean American, who is generally regarded as the best singer in the Taiwanese hip-hop group Machi. He was born in Korea, moved to America when he was still little and graduated from Long Beach City College. He was part of a Korean boy band at first, but they disbanded and he came back to California. He then met Jeff Huang who was amazed by his voice and made him part of Machi. The Machi crew went back to Taiwan, made it big, and then he released a solo album Shadow (April 2005) and later another one, Baby It's Me (May 2006). His debut album is a Chinese album of Western influences; the beats and the music are of the quality to American albums. The song choice on his second album is quite different to his debut. The whole album mainly consists of sweet slow songs. His voice is so impressive and sexy! I would say that his vocal prowess is just beyond spectacular and he is going to be the Asian Brian McKnight, as his breathy singing style is nothing short of magic and is comparable to Brian McKnight's musical genius. He has the voice of an angel, husky and soulful, perfect for the R&B songs that he sings. He is talented, and a super friendly guy, but previously neglected due to his joining Machi. He did not speak or understand any Chinese until he joined Machi and it was Jeff that pushed him to learn Chinese. His Chinese is not good (with Korean accent?), but his English is fluent.
