Although their Chinese given names are identical, Taiwan singer-songwriter Joanna Wang should not be confused with Hong Kong's idol singer Elanne Kwong. Joanna is of a decidedly different breed, as she is known for her unique sounds and flair for songwriting. Some listeners even compare her to Norah Jones. Joanna released her bilingual debut album Start From Here in January 2008 to wide acclaim, and now her sophomore effort, Joanna & Wang Ruo Lin, is due out early 2009. It includes her renditions of Paul Anka's timeless Times of Your Life, Paul Simon's 50 Ways to Leave Your Lover, and the Carpenters classic We've Only Just Begun.
