In April 2008, Ilac lost his close friend Kim Min Soo of Monday Kiz to a fatal car accident. The two had previously worked together as members of the special project group Voice One, and, unable to cope with his loss, Ilac asked to delay the production of his upcoming album and spent much of his time mourning Kim's death. But finding a new energy in his love for music, Ilac bounces back and releases Footloose, an album that bears his newfound maturity. The principal track Hae peun yeo ja ("Woman" - Track 1) is a unique blend of reggae music that combines trendy electronica sound with traditional Jamaican reggae, and features witty lyrics (written by fellow artist Wheesung) and Koonta's catchy rap. Offering a contrast in musical style is Goodbye Romance (Track 2), a dream-like mid-tempo sequence composed by Han Sang Won.
