(a.b.s.) is a Japanese rock band that formed in 2005. Its members consist of Takanori Nishikawa (vocals), SUNAO (guitar), Hiroshi Shibasaki (柴崎浩, Shibasaki Hiroshi?, electric guitar), and Toshiyuki Kishi (岸利至, Kishi Toshiyuki?, keyboards and programming) . Support members include Ikuo (bass) and Kozy Hasegawa (長谷川浩二, Hasegawa Kōji?, drums).

SUNAO and Shibasaki are also part of T.M.Revolution’s (Nishikawa’s solo project) backup band. Kishi also arranged some tracks for a TMR album, UNDER:COVER (2006), several months after a.b.s.’s formation. The band was named after the private boys-only school that the members of Radiohead (whom a.b.s. are modelled after) attended.

a.b.s. has recorded seven songs, two of which have been released on separate various artist albums. “stay away”, an English-language song written by Nishikawa and composed by Shibasaki, was on LOVE for NANA ~Only 1 Tribute~ (a tribute album to the shōjo anime/manga series NANA). The band also recorded a cover of a BUCK-TICK song, “Dress” (ドレス, Doresu?), featured on the album PARADE ~RESPECTIVE TRACKS OF BUCK-TICK~. The other five songs have yet to be released.

The band performed their first live, “CDでーた PRESENTS MUSIC EVOLUTION ’06”, on November 24, 2005 with bands UVERworld and Tsubakiya Quartet (椿屋四重奏, Tsubakiya Shijūsō?). [CD Data (CDでーた, CD Data?), is a Japanese music magazine.]

The band announced on September 3, 2006 that they would make their official debut through Epic Records Japan (also T.M.Revolution’s record label). Their first single, INNOCENT SORROW, will be released on December 6, 2006. “INNOCENT SORROW” is also the opening song of the D.Gray-man anime series.
