chek out toronto's chinatown..its crazy...the west chinatown..liek last year east chinatown had a shooting incident too leaving to grocery store clerk dead leaving wife and 2 kids from china.
That's a shame. I am glad some of the Chinese people are speaking out and demanding more patrolling in the area. There's obvious discrimination going on. In general sense, Chinese or Chinatown everywhere are second priority on the police chart. They're being treated as second class citizens when they have to pay the fair share of taxes. Chinese are also known to HUSH, HUSH about everything which is not good. For things to be resolved, communication has to be established. Otherwise, there's no help. Someone has to step up and start talking about the problems.
hahaha. Are you in Calgary? Very suspicious if you are, never know what people do besides surfing the web.
i use to live in calgary, my dad use to work in china town and i use to go to chinese school there. It's scary to hear about this stuff, but even ten years ago, even though i went to china town every weekend for 8 years i didn't know about a lot of the crime there use to be a ton of chinese and vietnamese gangs always doing stuff around china town even one year my camp consuler use to be in one of those gangs and showed us his bullet wounds and brought one of htis old friends to share stories (lesson on gun violence)
What are we, back in the 1950's? There's only ONE Chinese speaking officer in the entire Calgary PD? -shock LOL... Seems like they need to do a little better recruitment. It's fairly common to see Asian officers, especially Chinese ones, in New York.
every country there own recruitment policies, in the netherlands i have never seen a chinese police officer before
I'm not sure how many ethnic Chinese live in Holland; but given the fact that there is a huge Chinese diaspora in the US and Canada, one would guess that there would be at least some ethnic representation in most facets of municipal employment, especially one that would come in constant contact with such an ethnic community. As for specific recruitment policies; I agree. Many nations, regions and or cities do have their own criteria as to who they allow as full members of their police departments (considered a quasi-military organ of state). However, if such criteria are race or ethnicity based, those entities are open to accusations of bias, the appearance of which is something that most western police departments strive to avoid. -what?
nice. have em drop by harper's house and stir up something that ought to have him step down from his job.
i guess it also depend if you need it, since in the netherlands i guess there is not sucha big need for asian police offcier, since asian community over he aint that sucha big problem, the biggest problems comes from arab community, guess thatswhy they need more of that kinda police officers so its easier to talk with
I'm not sure where you get that opinion from but I personally know of plenty of Asians who have gone into law enforcement. -batman Come here, bad guy... -noclue LOL... Well, yeah, that's for certain. No sense in spending the city's money towards a population group that isn't even large enough for the political map. And what you've highlighted about the growing Euro-Arabian demographics is something that the EU has been concerned about for years. I would imagine that Arabic speaking police is probably on the short list of things to do.
you could be right, I could be biased with my own opinion. In school, one of my classmates asked me if I would go into that field, and my first thought was "never".
iah, the hidden stories of Chinatown. but tbh SF Chinatown used to be a pretty ghetto place... too many gangster'la!
