    Need a PC not mac.

Can somebody help me build one? or pick something out. I'm in canada.

u don't really need much, any modern dual core and atleast 2gb of ram will run PS with no problems and relatively fast... o... don't get vista... for the love of god... the resources suckage is starting to piss me off...

just buy one from the store. Get a Quad Core Intel

To build you own nowadays, you don't save much.
I used to build a few of mine...the cost really not that much saved.. i was just being a an ass and selective of my parts..but even so doesn't really matter in the long run.

look in dell's small business section and check out there precision desktops. They are built for graphic designers and cad/arc view users and got lots of juice. ay can get a very nice one for 1100 with win xp and a quad core. Just bought a few for the company i work with...they rock

@spkie he wants xp he ain't going to find a mainstream pc that sells xp...as most people have moved their systems to vista...and vista sucks balls

Presently, when building your own computer, its not about the cost as much... it's about the parts... granted some oem parts are pretty good like geniune intel boards... but most likely you won't come across very many real good mobos, PSU, etc; buying retail computers...

    bbes Incredible

u def don't need to spend over $1000 to get a comp that will run photoshop rele quick cos comps are cheaper in canada than uk and if u don't need to spend that much to get one in the uk u should def be able to get one for less. besides photoshop cs3 doesn't require that much, it runs pretty quick on my comp and my comp only has 512mb ram, but ye if u want it fast 2gb is def sufficent, a dual core is fine and a 256mb graphics card should def make it run quick.

Yes. You can keep it under 1k.
Factor in Motherboard costs unless you want a generic one.
Are we to assume a PC Case is included here?

i dunno if a 600w is necessary... it seems kinda overkill-shrug

I mean... he's not gonna be running a lot of power hungry parts here... the worst is if he offers at something like an 8800... even then he could go silent and save even more power ;)

I'll also want a new monitor, if we can get this under 1k in total that'd be great. This is including taxes, and if you can get it under 900 for me, then you'd be a god.
